Thank you Women of SNL. He’s worth the fight.
It’s things like this that show clearly that the issues with Franken are largely political in nature.
All these stories of sexual misconduct coming out are overwhelming and I believe them but something about Franken’s doesn’t ring true to me. I think that is why he is so willing to have an ethics investigation on himself.
These testimonies matter a lot. A whole lot.
Considering how I’ve read the players in the earlier days of SNL partied on that set and behind the scenes, this is huge.
YUGE.
And i appreciate it that they came forward to defend Al.
Women from his SNL days saying he is not a predator says a lot. SNL is and was known as a boys’ club in which women had to fight for respect. His Senate staff has said the same. It appears more and more that while Franken’s behavior with Tweeden was boorish, it did not rise to the level of other men accused in the past two months. I generally believe women, but I have serious doubts about the claims of the second woman. Why would a sitting senator, who had to fight for a year to secure his seat, squeeze a stranger’s ass in front of her husband in a public setting?
Have we heard anything from his kindergarten ? It’s so hard to decide…
The statement from the women who worked with Franken at SNL is very important. I retract my statement that he is headed for the toaster. I hope he doesn’t resign because of what we know now.
To bad the smear saying that he groped a women and apologized for it will still be spread on as if its a fact and this news will not likely get much attention.
Oh, he’s in the toaster all right. But Al’s more of that substantial home-baked whole wheat and honey kind of bread that just sits there basking and browning in the heat, as opposed to the opposition’s factory-soft puffy white bread that quickly chars and catches on fire.
That Sesame Street song about “One Of These Things Is Not Like The Other” keeps coming to mind. The allegations against Franken cause me some concern because of the accuser’s right wing affiliations, and let’s be straight up, silencing Franken is what the Republicans need as he was key to bringing Sessions back for more testimony.
That’s one of the main reasons I think that the stink of Roger Stone is all over these accusations.
Does this seem like the kind of woman who is bothered by bawdy behavior? Is it conceivable that Al Franken’s photo traumatized this delicate little flower for eleven years and she was too meek and lacking in confidence to call Al up and let him know how much it bothered her?
Is seems rather obvious MeToo is getting taken advantage of. I hope sanity prevails before Franken’s head it put on a spike. This seems to be one of those rare times where a woman is not being genuine and the women’s movement could lose all credibility if it goes all in backing Tweeden to destroy Franken’s career.
Any Senator can do that. You are reaching.
I agree that any Senator can do that, but how am I reaching?
I met Al Franken once, and was very impressed with him. He was a very serious guy. I hope he can get through this.
O/T
Charlie Rose has now been officially fired by CBS
Respectfully, I don’t view Senator Franken as anything special.
Since Aykroyd, Murray and Chase were in the freshman class at SNL and we know the freshman class of women, Radner, Curtin and Newman, spoke of harassment, does someone finally turn the spotlight on the true villains. P.S. One of the many reasons I’ve admired Franken is that he speaks so lovingly of wife Frannie and always has, a rare quality which IMO says so much about his true nature…
@hornblower For your consideration I’ll repeat myself. P.S. One of the many reasons I’ve admired Franken is that he speaks so lovingly of wife Frannie and always has, a rare quality which IMO says so much about his true nature… Let’s not forget how he went after Sessions, fearlessly and determined and made the cracker squirm.
