Discussion: Woman Accidentally Shot In the Buttocks After Husband Picked Up Backpack With Gun Inside

Discussion for article #222089

Just another not so gentle reminder that a gun in the home is more likely to wound or kill - a loved one, neighbor or friend before it is ever used for self-defense.

The dermatologist told them not to try this at home, but the husband was trying to help his wife with DIY liposuction

My mother, like Freud, told us, “There’s no such thing as an accident.” Excusing your actions as ‘accidents’ didn’t fly as justification.

He told her that one way or another she was getting penetrated back there.

Good thing he didn’t have a hammer in that backpack. Or, god forbid, a swimming pool. Somebody could have really gotten hurt.

“A gun fell out of the backpack and when Scott reached for it, the gun went off.”

I’m sorry - it fell out, but didn’t “just went off” until he reached for it?
What - the gun felt threatened?

The report sounds as if the police confirmed this was negligence rather than an attempt to cover up horseplay or an act of domestic violence.

This could only have happened if a round was chambered and the safety off which is not how firearms are to be safely transported.

We are very far away from 2nd Amendment and SCOTUS authorized gun regulations. However we can inch closer by advocating for felony criminal charges when unsafe negligent mishandling of a firearm that cause personal injury.

Therefore, I urge that both the police and TPM stop referring to these incidents as “accidents” and use more accurate descriptions such as “negligent mishandling”.

We’ll get gun control just after a gun “just goes off” a couple times on the floor of the House and not a second before.

Mr. Scott was subsequently heard muttering racist remarks and making threats against Paul Simon and Edie Brickell. He then boarded a plane, apparently with the intention of carrying out these threats, but the plane was lost in the Indian Ocean.

TPM has been asked repeatedly to do this , but choses not to.

The article from the Springfield News-Sun says he was charged with negligent assault. Not sure if it is a felony.

What’s a “gunshot would?” I’m glad she was “hten released at Miami Valley” though.

But the Terrorists never shot Kim in the ass!

Why? Cause freedom!

No no, it was more a premature firing. It went off in eager anticipation.

The only gun control you would get in that event would be increased security to keep guns out of the Capitol Building.

I’m glad Kimberly’s ass is now safe from the President’s gun grabbing.

Yeah, gotta wonder how these people carry automatics around with a round chambered.

Yeah, I wondered about that statement, too. I’m assuming he reached for it, grabbed it, and in the process of grabbing it, he managed to pull the trigger.

Damn, and you’d think a backpack would be such a safe place to stash a loaded gun…
