Discussion: With All Eyes On Kansas, GOP's Kobach Could Soon Be Out Of A Job

Discussion for article #227460

KKK is probably going to be the hardest to unseat of the three targets in Kansas, because his work hasn’t (directly) effected the state’s economic woes, whereas Brownbackonomics surely has. That said, a new broom sweeps clean, so let’s keep the hope that Kobach goes with Brownback and Roberts.

“Kobach Kockblock might not quite be Public Enemy No. 1, but his resume reads like a conservative greatest hits of the Obama era. He helped write the 2010 Arizona immigration law that controversially permitted law enforcement to check a person’s legal status with minimal cause, parts of which were eventually thrown out by the U.S. Supreme Court. He instituted a voter ID law once he got into office in Kansas. He also pursued alongside Arizona a legal fight with the federal government over including proof-of-citizenship requirements on federal voter registration forms in his state. He even toyed with Obama birtherism in 2012.”

Outrage is an odd thing. FOX has made a living with the manufactured version. Would that we could do something with the real thing.

Just the fact that he’s directly and publicly involved in the effort to keep Taylor on the ballot speaks volumes. Dems saw him as an enemy already, and his high visibility in this effort puts a huge target on his head. I’m glad to see Schodorf calling him out for what many here consider a shitty underhanded move.

This male has a In HOUSE JOB with the KJocked UP BROS writing boilerplate ALEC laws to repress the vote, personhood bills against women, and the Stand your Ground laws…As 2welk as the laws against solar power and for fracking…

Nasty piece of work that needs to be taken out with the other out with the other Kansas trash brownback and roberts.

I think I agree with you but I’m not sure exactly what you said.

This may end up obeying the law of diminishing returns for the GOP. They’re getting nervous, and will start carpet bombing Kansas with propaganda, which will only remind voters of what is going on.

Look for ads telling voters that the democrat is still running in the Senate race.

This is no real surprise; Kobach lost his reelection bid for Johnson County DA a few years ago for the same reason.

You would think the Kansas Bar Association would campaign against him. His poor grasp of basic legal principles, reading challenges, and arbitrary application of rules fall well below the norm for shyster chicanery. How low do you have to go to not even even maintain the dignity and decorum expected of the lawyer profession?

Be a real shame if this piece of filth lost.

No really.

I am just going to sit back and enjoy the movie with my pops and soda. From what I have been hearing, Republicans in Kansas aren’t feeling any love from voters right now. Neither are the Koch Brothers.

If the voters have any sense, they will give the majority of Republicans the boot!

I perceive the nub of his gist, so to speak is that we can agree. LOL.

I live in Kansas and the rumor going around is that even if Pat Roberts is reelected, he will resign and Brownback will appoint a koch approved replacement. More than likely it would be Kobach.

Kobach wrote Arizona’s “show me your papers” law, SB 1070. As a resident of AZ I sincerely hope the voters toss this guy under a slow moving bus and that it stops on him…

Here we have the stark evidence that the Tea Party is well on its way to reestablishing the political structure of the United States in the middle 19th century. It’s soon to be the Confederates against everyone else.

Most of the successful democrats in places like Kansas are former moderate republicans, our centrist conservatives. They’ve been kicked out of the GOP, which is quickly devolving into a regional rabble of ignorant racist theocrats and amoral market capitalists/plutocrats. So now they’re making a come back as democrats, which is quickly evolving into a broad coalition that spans the center-right to the far-left.

It’s good to see decent values crushing the likes of Brownback and Kobach. Frankly, they can’t get flushed back into the sewer they came out of fast enough.

Kobach in trouble? It couldn’t happen to a better piece of partisan poop.

Kansas Republicans were embarrassed by this glory-hound with a taste for personal interstate commerce. Like Roberts, Kobach posed himself as “above Kansas” and in the process he seemed arrogant fo many of his former supporters.

His blind ambition and his “Mr. Big Stuff” attitude will come back on him, and rightly so. Anyone who has worked that hard to keep people from voting ought to suffer a loss of voter support for it. It seems only fitting.

One of the issues that ticked off people as far as the Kochs are concerned is their opposition to wind power. Kansas has a lot of wind and a lot of ranchers want in on the action. The Kochs don’t like that. The ranchers don’t care and so far they have won.

Anyone who saw any of the debates from the State Fair in Hutch knows that Pat’s getting shaky, both in his body and his debating skills, if you watch him for more than a few seconds, his age infirmities are painfully apparent.

But the media won’t show more than a snippet of it, it is a wonder someone hasn’t already penned an editorial to that effect. Roberts should have dropped out of this before it even started, anyone who takes the time to watch him debate will be reticent to send him back to the Senate.
