There will be payback, Republicans. There will be payback. Your state is turning blue, and you will see the voters turn against you for this kind of behavior. Shame on you.

Wisconsin has one of the most powerful line-item vetoes of any state governor, so Walker has the opportunity to stop any part of this.

He won’t, because he’s an asshole, but he could…

I certainly hope someone is taking names.

The pro-democracy Republican party at work. Between gerrymandering, limits on executive power just when they no longer hold the office, voting restrictions, suppression of votes on judges until they are in control, they’ve been perfecting their playbook. Will the American people wake up before 30% of the people control it all?

This outrage will be immediately appealed to court and a request for stay pending the appeal will he filed. The question about such a travesty is whether it’s lawful under state and federal law. It certainly is outrageously undemocratic.

Will the court nullify this legislation?

Have they no shame? No decency?

How many Republicans are in the WI assembly? Are all of them cynical usurpers?

“Democracy”, like, “The Constitution”, only gets trotted out at election time, so as to bamboozle the rubes who vote for them. Any other time they are wholly content to wipe their asses with either…

Republicans know that if they just weather the immediate storm, the furor will die down. All of the WI state workers should walk out - but again, the GOP know that people simply cannot afford to do that indefinitely.

The state court is undoubtedly in GOP hands.

They packed their state supreme court. They probably get away with this for the time being. Koch activities are well coordinated, and their takeover of WI government is an excellent example. The people of Wisconsin can take back their power of self government but it will take more than one election cycle to accomplish.

Do republicans have shame or decency??? Is that really a question you don’t already know the answer to?

Just another effluvium from a shameful gasbag of an excuse for a governor.

I’ll be happy to see the “Support Wucker” signs on 151 go away (someone tell these guys the recall was nearly a decade ago) but I’m certain we’ll see this mealy-mouthed jackass again when he gets his own fox show.

So what does limiting early voting have to do with restoring the balance of power in the state? Limiting the ability of the AG to drop out of federal lawsuits is nothing but Republicans trying to block the new administration from rolling back their madness.

Here’s the funny part- since Republicans included early voting in the bill, that puts them at odds with previous federal court ruling. If Walker signs this as is, the entire bill could go down in flames, and they may not have enough time for another bill.

This is another example of why Republicans can’t be trusted to govern in our Democracy- North Carolina, Michigan and Wisconsin Republicans are all working from the same anti-Democratic playbook.

We Democrats should grit our teeth and view this as a great opportunity to demonstrate to voters that Republicans disdain democracy and have only their own interests in mind. These bills present Democrats with an issue that could break the Republican Party, in Wisconsin and elsewhere, for a generation. It will take hard work to do that–Republicans and their allies will deploy huge resources to obscure what they have done and deflect attention–but the effort will be worth it if it is sustained and well-executed.
