Discussion: Why The House Intel Bengazi Report Still Not Good Enough For Some GOPers

Discussion for article #230727

then you’re going to gain much by saying ‘Benghazi really was worth nothing’

Was this supposed to be “you’re NOT going to gain much”?

“The real problem for them will come from media reporters who do know this was. GOP report and may not want to cover more hearings.”

Seems like there’s something missing here as well, but I’m not sure what.

Difference between liberals and conservatives? Many conservative conspiracy nuts (Birther’s, Benghazi!, etc.) get elected to Congress, have TV shows, etc. Liberal conspiracy nuts (Truther’s) seldom get elected to office or have TV shows because liberals are generally smarter.

“…a conspiracy between House Republicans and the White House…”

Conservatives and liberals coming together. So who got left out?

I said it before, ill say it again…

Editing talking points is not a crime… It’s not even a bad thing. It’s like saying I edited my school paper before I passed it in, or an office memo After 7 investigations that’s what they got. Someone edited an office memo, pretty lame.

Neither is using a teleprompter, but you’d never know it from listening to these morons…

What a waste of time and money. There are people at State and the Pentagon who work on nothing else. Congressional malpractice of the worst sort. At this point, how can there even be any political gain?

“Fox News also published a piece arguing that the “widely-cited” House Intelligence report "cited by the mainstream media" lacked key details about Benghazi.”

This is how right-wing media works, right here in bold. They know the only thing that their consumers will hear is “mainstream media”, and they know their consumers are too dumb to parse out the nuance of their play on words. Having been told for decades now that “mainstream” media is all a lie, and that you can only trust Fox News/AM radio (which are actually more mainstream than anything, if ratings are used as a metric) to deliver the truth, they can effectively hand-wave away a report by Republicans, that says Benghazi investigations are a load of shit.

I can’t believe we’re at a point now where witch-hunt conspiracy theories aren’t just things sane people point and laugh at, but are now part of everyday political discourse by vast swaths of the country and now occupy significant amounts of time, energy and money by our lawmakers.

Hey Republicans, fuck you!

It’s an interesting disconnect that the same bunch that views Darren Wilson as exonerated because of the grand jury’s findings continues to reject authoritative reports on Benghazi, even when produced by their own party. They just KNOW what happened despite all evidence to the contrary.

Obviously, the Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations should investigate the House Intelligence Committee investigation.

Is that just another to say, “Republican members of Congress”?

Well, the other difference is that the MSM treats liberal conspiracy nuts like sideshow freaks but treats conservative conspiracy nuts like they’re Very Serious People taking one side of a burning unsettled controversy.

Granted there’s a bit of a chicken and egg problem on whether that’s Republican conspiracy nuts are treated like VSP’s because they got elected or whether they get elected because they’re treated like VSP’s. But, it’s not just the the variance in how they treat the conspiracy theorists depending on ideology, that’s the problem. Rather, the MSM has an amazing tendency to treat liberals with ideas based on empirically verifiable data or peer reviewed research, science like fringe nuts.and conservatives who have truly insane beliefs as if they are just offering up a reasonable alternative explanation for observed facts.

Remember, they “Create their own reality” and then live in it.
Kind of like a big, racist, ignorant, tree house in the back yard.
Oh, and “No stinky girls allowed”.

Had a discussion with a Political Scientist and both of us agreed that most of this RightWing mess is a function of the vast majority of people who simply fail to take the time to vote.

In addition, there is nothing that can be done about it. If it were, it would have happened already.

The elimination of the Military Draft, the video-games, the lack of classical education (history, civics, geography, literature, etc) render for the 0.01% an asleep, consumer-catered-to, distracted population in which those who actually vote skew to precisely the same old Confederate hayseeds and racists who ALWAYS turn out to vote in every election.

Addendum.

There is something which can be done. But it would require a huge expenditure to accomplish in 18 months what Madison Avenue took 10-15 years to do when it converted an entire generation of youngsters into gadgeteers.

And that would be for the DNC to hire a firm to conduct research to isolate and study whatever it would take to reach the minds of gadgetized Americans under 50. Much like Murdoch and Ailes must have done with FOX and the geriatric-Confederate crowd.

Multiple emails EVERY DAY, rallies, begging and whatever the Democrats are actually doing simply does not work. Democratic positions are held by most Americans.

Most Americans simply do not vote (except Confederates)

“Republicans know that most Americans know nothing about the details of government or who produced this report. They are just continuing a sound bite beat implying something dirty from Obama and Clinton about Benghazi,” Skocpol told TPM. “The real problem for them will come from media reporters who do know this was a GOP report and may not want to cover more hearings.”

While the first part of this is true, I’m not so sure about the second. Even if reporters know this was a GOP report, they’ll likely cover more hearings if it can give them a juicy soundbite that will make their newspaper/magazine/website/TV show stand out from their competitors. And there are outlets that overtly pander to conservative viewpoints to make a niche for themselves, and these outlets will continue to beat the drum about Benghazi regardless of what any Congressional reports say.

While they’re at it Graham and Paul really should demand Copernican heliocentrism be given a hard look. Word has it Hillary and Copernicus share a common ancestor. An ancestor born in Kenya!!! God didn’t create the United States to have it subservient to the Sun!! Everything revolves around US!!!

Jason Chaffetz is the moron who publicly revealed the Benghazi post was a CIA station. I was watching CSPAN when he did that and suddenly the hearing had to go into classified session.

On what planet is he credible?

Just sayin’
