Choosing not to expand Medicaid when other states are doing so, is just stupid. The people in those states are essentially paying for poor people in other states to access Medicaid yet are paying again when poor people in their states have to use the urgent care clinics, emergency rooms, etc…

I can understand the argument that the Federal Dollars will eventually get cut and the states will be stuck picking up probably 10% of the tab, but they are paying for it already.

Republicans are all about principles, until they realize that their dogma is no longer self-serving. At which point they’ll throw their principles out the window, while expecting their fellow conservatives to NOT do the same.

“I got mines!”

I wouldn’t cut any of these states a deal for any reason. Make them follow the course or stay out.

It also epitomizes the independent streak found in the West, defined by a deep distrust of the federal government.

But they have no problem accepting federal dollars that ultimately come from all the rest of us. These sagebrush stultifiers are like feral cats that distrust people but are more than eager to eat the food left out for them.

Why offer something positive for the citizens and the economy you’re elected to manage when you can just have some fun being a gigantic evil asshole because a black Democrat is President?

How long before Republicans start claiming credit for the ACA?

So let me understand the perspective here. The Wyoming legislators are saying “Yes, we know it would benefit the state financially and we know thousands of our constituents would get the health care they need, but we just have to obstinately stall and stamp our feet for a few months here because … Obama!!!”

Really?

That’s pretty much the Republican platform these days if you just replace ‘Wyoming’ with ‘America’ and ‘state’ with 'nation.

Truth to be told, these “feral cats” have no problem accepting federal dollars because those very dollars were taken from them by the federal government to begin with.

Wyoming has more cows than people in the state. They get far more back in federal dollars than they pay in taxes.

It was after all a conservative Heritage Foundation idea to begin with and the GOP touted RomneyCare as the thing of the future.
Why wouldn’t Republicans not adopt their own idea if they can do it in a low key way that doesn’t admit that it took a black man in the White House to lead where they couldn’t?

“We’ve already got everybody that is susceptible to the humanitarian
argument,” he said. “We need new arguments because that didn’t get us

No Medicaid expansion until they get enough of the GOP’s sociopath wing on board.

They may be stupid in Wyoming but they’re also inbred.

WYO GOP: “Sheriff Bart only man ever whip Mongo – twice! Mongo impressed!”

Because it’s way too late now. Obama owns ACA – period! Between the 40-plus defunding votes and the whipsawing Mittens took when he tried to claim credit for Romneycare, and any tries at “Well, WE thought of it FIRST” will seem utterly ridiculous!

I haven’t really done a systematic review, but my impression is that the deeper a Massive Resitance state’s governor and legislature are in the Kochtopus Empire’s pocket, the more resistant they are. Certainly that seems to be what’s going on in North Carolina and Wisconsin.

Can you back up your claim with numbers?

No problem. Among many other web sites which cover the problem you may try http://www.theatlantic.com/business/archive/2014/05/which-states-are-givers-and-which-are-takers/361668/
