Discussion: Why Did A Pack Of Twentysomethings Randomly Beat A Gay Couple In Philly?

Philadelphia - the city of brotherly loath.

Ok, Im going to step in here. Philly is a very tolerant and welcoming city for everyone, including GLBT. We haven’t had an incident in years, as opposed to NYC and some other ‘tolerant’ towns. This was an anomaly and the community as a whole stepped up immediately to find the perps (we have video, how is this ‘alleged’?) with the very active support of our political leaders. Try again wombat.

Sounds like a Federal HATE CRIME is not far off.

I love that the title of this post implies that a pack of [white] twentysomethings wouldn’t ordinarily commit violent crimes. Why is it that the media seeks to find an answer why white, middle class folks are violent, and no one questions why a black man beheads his co-worker. It’s as if it’s assumed the black [Muslim] will most certainly commit violent acts, so we don’t need to ask “why?”.

This is horrendous… but why be surprised that they weren’t charged with a hate crime…? A woman is beheaded by a Muslim that espouses radical Islam and they are calling it workplace violence and not domestic terrorism. This country is SO upside down.

James Carville:** “Pennsylvania is Philadelphia and Pittsburgh with Alabama in between.”**

…and often the Alabamians prowl the city streets as well.

Sounds like a nice, sweet girl… ( gag)

I think a lot of people wondered why the man beheaded someone and media searched for the answer.

Nobody seems to really be delving into why these people would beat someone half to death. Even though the headline asks the question, there’s no attempt at an answer.

Philly is just going to have to drop the slogan “City of brotherly Love”…

FFS, who cares if theres a hate crime law? Throw them in the slammer for assault, attempted murder, etc., and they can spend the rest of their lost youth chortling about how they got away without a hate crime charge.

Brings me back to the good old days of Samuel L. Bronkowitz’s production of Catholic High School Girls in Trouble

They’re fucked. There may not be a specific statute to protect Gay’s from crap like this in Philly but there is a community sentiment there that demands harsh punishment. Screw the crap…we all know what went down. Why was there an altercation at all? Blame it on the gays? cool…but why?

Perhaps what we need is a sense of what right and wrong is guiding us ( like we used to do it ) and not a narrow, specific statute.

We know what happened here. Everyone does. What does Philly do with it? Like I said: they are fucked. But only if the folks that protect others from being fucked are willing to do the fucking.

Bien sur, et elle est le gout d’un porc.

These vomits sound like rejects from Paddy’s Pub where it’s always sunny.

Glad social media helped ID these losers.

Knott’s daddy’s a cop, so she may have gotten a sense of entitlement from that.

Typical bunch of drunk twenty-stupids with massive senses of entitlement. Jail should fix that.

I see a couple of violent latents.

Work on your sense of irony. I live in the heart of a major Midwestern city (not the suburbs) in the local equivalent of where this crime occurred and here twenty somethings raised in privilege (attended private schools, the daughter of a police chief, well dressed, reserving a private room in a restaurant for a birthday party etc. counts as privilege) don’t mug people and attack people out of pure hate.

Crime here is committed by the poor and desperate. This “yuppie gang” was neither. Irony, get it?

Typical Philly white trash.

But then they’d have to give up the “Philadelphia” bit too.
