Discussion for article #237468
Some are calling for civil disobedience. Others are moving moving to strip the Supreme Court of its authority to decide whether gay couples should be allowed to marry, while others have questioned whether the court has that jurisdiction in the first place. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) has said that such a decision would be “fundamentally illegitimate.”
It is impossible to overstate the immense amount of plain stupidity and flagrant anti-Americanism these idiots are expressing.
Are they really advocating for a situation where SCOTUS’ long-standing decision in Loving vs. Virginia would be voided or nullified in some states? – Because you just know some jurisdictions would press that point if SCOTUS were somehow not allowed to rule on the liberty of marrying the ones we choose.
All they can do is yap about it.
None of them have any power. Such Clowns

Civil disobedience? They’ll refuse to marry each other?
And not one of these politicians really gives a rat’s ass about the issue. But they will play their constituents’ homophobia like a mandolin in order to get campaign contributions and votes.
Until the Supreme Court mandates that heterosexuals must enter into gay marriages, you have nothing to bellyache about. Sit down and shut up.
They posture loudly about many things as they court their shrinking base. I eagerly await for one to propose a Flat Earth amendment.
As a practical matter, since marriages are conducted by states, what can a President do about it? Presidents also lack a role in constitutional amendments.
As for Pastor Scarborough, no individual is required to “accept” anyone else’s marriage. No one cares whether you consider a couple married or not.
I could’ve sworn I just heard Ben Carson begging a reporter to talk about a more important issue.
Time to send in the National guard. This is America, you can marry whoever you want. These ingrates need to read a history book and see what happened about 150 years ago, the last time a region run by bigots decided to defy federal authority for the great religious and moral cause of their day–making sure people could continue to own people.
The Supreme Court doesn’t work. The Executive branch doesn’t work.
According to them, the only branch of government capable of functioning is Congress… lol
So if the Court rules against Obamacare subsidies, the President should just ignore the ruling, I guess.
the sad thing is even if the SCOTUS does rule for marriage equality states like Alabama and Texas will ignore it and the Feds will do nothing. They are already ignoring a federal judge in Alabama and still denying gay people marriage license. The saddest part is people think the Feds will step in and do something… surely you jest. These states in the end may be forced to issue the license but its going to be a looong time before some of them will and then they will strip away every state level benefit fro same sex couples. Its all in the name of Gawd dont you know.
This is what happens when a spoiled child grows into an adult. For decades the Republicans have been allowed to get away with hypocrisy. They claim to be the party of fiscal responsibility, but drove the country deeper into debt whenever they are in charge. They claim to be against “Big” government intruding in your lives, but want to legislate every aspect of a woman’s body.
They’ve been allowed to get away with it for so long that they don’t even pretend any more. If they need the Supreme Court to do something for them, it’s the highest law in the land. If the Democrats win in the Supreme Court it’s “judicial activism” and they’ll threaten to just ignore it. The party that carries the Constitution in their pockets pretty much ignoring the Constitution.
But 35% of the population picked Team R and our brains don’t let us admit we’re wrong. So they get to keep getting worse.
Where are we sending the National Guard?

[/quoteConstituents mostly don’t care either. They are merely mistanthropic, enjoy making others miserable.
7 pasty white guys and 1 token. None of whom will ever be president
Citizens United, we like so the SC did a good job and we are fine with the decision. Potential SC decision on marriage, we don’t like the decision and we don’t even care if it has not been made yet. Therefore we believe the SC does not have standing. And by the by we also believe the SC must decide the way we tell them to in the ACA case currently before the court. This a exactly how the Constitution states the 3 branches should work, they all do what we say or we throw a temper tantrum, wah, wah, boooooooooooooooooooooooo hoooooooooooooooooo.
With all due respect, I completely disagree.
The GOP has insisted on being the government-in-everyone’s-bedroom party at least since the 80s. It’s shaped almost all of their social policies (except for capital punishment and gun control).
However, the number of voters who are on board with this shrinks annually. Most Americans are okay with same-sex marriage (including most younger Republicans).
And no one who isn’t completely batsht accepts the notion that sex is for repro only (the basis of these policies).
Even in red states, the Rs would do a lot better if they stopped pushing these positions. And it’s not as if there’s some big corporate donor with a vested interest behind them (as with their labor policies, e.g.)
Politically, it makes zero sense.
So the only explanation for pursuing these policies is that they honest-to-God reflect these Republican candidates’ personal values.
They really ARE that crazy.
Oops … you forgot iCarly, Keeper of the Demon Sheep.
