Around here in STL she’s been referred to as

Have people always been like this and they’re now being exposed or has trump’s election bought them out, where they have no shame in deciding who belongs someplace and who doesn’t…?

I bet Richard Roundtree wouldn’t have been so restrained.

Well, in my opinion, firing her is ridiculous.

If she did not recognize the man — and really, even if she did — she was under no obligation to “let” him into the building.

Perhaps I’m missing some detail that reveals her behavior to be a fireable offense.

If anything, it was his behavior that was uncalled for.

He’s a complicated man.

What the hell is it that goes through a persons head in a situation like this. Like, he opened his own apt door and showed her everything she needed to know, all the while filming her harassing him. When do people like this get a clue?

Also, when the hell are the cops going to start doing something about calling in false reports, it used to be against the law to misuse the police. In every case like this the lawbreaker is the ofay and the patrol cops don’t care, or is it the chief of police and the local DA?

I think that you missed the part where she followed him to his apt and let himself in with the very key he showed her outside the building.

More people than you want to believe harbor intense bigotry and, most particularly on the right, take their cues on what it’s okay to say, do and believe from social group influences and external authorities. When the societal cues and thought leaders condemn bigotry that message gets internalized and their bigotry is repressed. It’s even possible that introspection and growth can occur. When thought leaders endorse and encourage racism, the jack boots come out of the closet.

The renormalization of racism began with Rush Limbaugh and his “humor,” in the 80’s: “ha ha ha it’s just a little joooke! Can’t you libs take a joooke.” But it’s only when you get someone in the hightest position of authority that people are put onto the path to genocide.

It’s wonderful that he let himself into his own apartment.

I must have missed the part where she complained about, or prevented him from doing, that.

Also the part where the issue isn’t her not “letting” him in, but was obstructing his ability to “let” himself in an important distinction. The former implies he was asking her to open a door or otherwise provide access, which doesn’t appear to be the case.

Have people always been like this? Yes. Are they now being exposed? They are being up front about it now that Trump is president and they seem to think that gives them permission to be as openly racist as they are.

Wasn’t he asking her to keep the door open despite there being a key-pad he could have used to let himself in?

Did you watch the video? She is literally standing in the doorway demanding he prove his right to enter the building.

Yes, exactly. You don’t think that’s OK. I happen to think it is not a fireable offense.
