And now she gets to be on the T and V. I’d still like to know whether there are any charges pending for any adult who assaulted a child. If I recall correctly from the original article, didn’t a couple of these kids get punched in the face?

Of course, maybe she used the slurs and doesn’t remember them- or as I have found among so many people- didn’t actually understand that what she was using was a slur.

Yeah, she thinks because she didn’t say any bad words, just said “go back to your section 8 homes” that she’s nice. Why anyone would think that was provocative is beyond her…

I’ve run into a lot of people who actually don’t understand that they’re being bigots because their words aren’t actions or their words aren’t slurs, and yet, they are being bigots because they don’t have any empathy for what others think or feel.

In these confusing situations you have to wait sometimes for all the facts to sort themselves out. I’m sure we’ll learn next that the video was misleading and in fact it was Dajerria Becton who threw Casebolt to the ground.

See also, “I don’t want homosexuality crammed down my throat” said by people with a straight face as they say that they don’t have any issues with gays. They think the fact they didn’t use any slurs makes it all clinical and fine.

Unfortunately, it isn’t. Often times what people are afraid of is the fact that they don’t want to be treated the way that they know they’re treating minorities. I run into this a lot of the time because I’m lesbian…I have a huge problem with understanding heterosexuality. Growing up, I kind of thought homosexuality was the norm because, in order to avoid bullying, I spent a lot of time inside my own head. So for me, when I see ads that literally push heterosexuality in my face, it can be rather distressing.
I do think that we can, as a whole, have conversations about issues within various minority groups without it being bigoted in some form, but the problem is that a lot of people never really want to talk or listen, and so things get toxic really quickly.

I have a friend who lives near McKinney, a staunch Democrat who is not at all a racist, though she’s surrounded by crazy wingnuts, and she sent me a detailed defense of this event based on her conversations with the brass at the McKinney PD. What this woman is saying is essentially what the PD told my friend. We agreed not to talk about it any further so we could keep our friendship intact.

And even the ones that still use the term were just joking. Besides, Chris Rock used to say it and rap singers do, so it’s not fair.
White people that use the slur are the real victims…as always.
