The administration and its mouthpiece clearly don’t know that public opinion is on the side of hearing details from the man who lead the team. Fox won’t tell them, but it’s a fact. So, yeah, they should go ahead and weasel word for a while longer.
Do they not have Fox on constantly? The Trump supporters I know all speak with one collective voice, straight from Fox News and talk radio.
Too bad, so sad:

It’s what at least 500 former prosecutors say as well.
“Each of us believes that the conduct of President Trump described in Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s report would, in the case of any other person not covered by the Office of Legal Counsel policy against indicting a sitting President, result in multiple felony charges for obstruction of justice,” the former federal prosecutors wrote.
“We emphasize that these are not matters of close professional judgment,” they added. “Of course, there are potential defenses or arguments that could be raised in response to an indictment of the nature we describe here. . . . But, to look at these facts and say that a prosecutor could not probably sustain a conviction for obstruction of justice — the standard set out in Principles of Federal Prosecution — runs counter to logic and our experience.”
Interesting in that he term “Executive privilege” occurs nowhere in the Constitution, and the legal basis for claims of “Executive privilege.” are sketchy at best.
While maybe not a defeatist I’ve been having a hard time staying positive lately. I’ve found paying less attention is the only thing that helps. When I start tuning in again I am greeted by more stories of Pelosi not supporting impeachment and contempt votes being delayed for “negotiations”.
Good to hear.
Pay closer attention.
Jerry Nadler, chair of the Judiciary Committee has included the possibility of impeachment sooner than later relative to the contempt citation being issued to Barr.
“[T]he Committee needs to review the unredacted report, the underlying evidence, and associated documents so that it can ascertain the facts and consider our next steps,” the report reads. It also says about Congress’ Article I powers set out in the Constitution: "That includes whether to approve articles of impeachment with respect to the President or any other Administration official, as well as the consideration of other steps such as censure or issuing criminal, civil or administrative referrals."
As frustrating as it is to watch Pelosi do her Hamlet routine on impeachment almost weekly, if the Dems make two moves they are back in control of this game. First, if they pass the contempt resolution out of committee that will get the attn of the news media and buoy Dems to move more aggressively. There will be no penalty and a lot of congrats from base Dems for hitting Barr. Second, if they manage to get Mueller to testify next week, that will be a public game changer that they can then build off of to pursue more interviews and get into the courts to face off and beat Trump.
For a guy who ‘totally exhonerated’ tRump, the tRumpanzees are sure as hell pulling out a lot of stops trying to keep Mueller quiet.
As unpopular as this is to point out, we libs/progs are being played by Dem leaders just as much as TrumpCo is conning his base. There will be zero consequence for Trump’s crimes because he’s committing crimes that benefit rich, powerful people. He’s essentially buying his immunity with perks and treats for the elites of both parties and corporate donors. It’s a joke to think our sacred Constitution means a friggin’ thing to these bastards. The law means nothing to Trump and he proves it every day. I predict we will never see his tax returns, never hear from Mueller, never even come close to impeachment, and as the full election season gets under way, Trump will prevail for a second term. I’m happy to be wrong on all counts. Time will tell.
There is "testify’ as before a congressional committee. Then there is just speaking or writing publicly about these matters. That opens the possibility that Mueller could throw this whole thing into disarray which would surely be disastrous for Trump’s reelection chances. The rest of the GOP, probably not but still a negative.
I have come to believe that Mueller will keep his head down, totally. He’s a loyal soldier first. Loyal to what you may ask? In this case loyal to the party. The party as it is now. Not some ideal GOP.
I obviously could be proven wrong. Just saying what my gut says.
The rabid 15% do, but the other 30% who voted for Trump in 2016 are starting to get nervous.
The Tariffs are killing their jobs, and the Tax Cut was a wet squib for them, not helping at all, and their Health Care costs just keep going up and their jobs going away, so they are looking for something to rally around and they are not seeing it coming from the White House.
Abortion, Gay-bashing, Name-Calling, and “Deep State Conspiracies” won’t do it for the 30% like it does for the mindless culture warriors in the rabid 15% so they ARE getting restless.
UNFORTUNATELY, Trump does have access to something that will shore up the support of the 30%: A WAR WITH IRAN.
These people are fiercely Patriotic (sometimes pathologically so) and will “rally round the Flag” if Trump gets his War with Iran going. That is what worries me.
So they’ve clearly already angered Mueller by misrepresenting and undermining his work – why would they expect him to heed their dubious legal ploy?
I don’t exactly share your pessimism and I hope you are wrong. Seeing tRump and his feckless children and Jared doing the perp walk will be the greatest moment of my life.
On what grounds, assholes?
Well, a “right to privacy” also occurs nowhere in the Constitution …
Anyhow, you’re right about the text.
That’s up to 650. If he wasn’t POtuS, he’d be in jail.
Did it have those cheetoh stains, or… never mind
Maybe he is afraid of being over-exonerated. Who knows what that might lead to . . .
