Maybe he has the power. Let’s see if he has the balls.
Why, I’ve believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast!
– The White Queen, Through the Looking Glass.
Fortunately for us, Preshitdent Two-scoops, what you believe matters much less than what the law actually is.
M’kay.
And Dorothy certainly believed that she could return to Kansas if she clicked her heels three times but it turned out that Oz had been a dream resulting from the severe head injury she sustained.
I still love that April Ryan asked Ma Hamhock if Fat Nixon has considered resigning in the past week because of all the chaos. I’m willing to take a hard hit to the head if I can wake up and find that the past 17 months has all been one horrid nightmare!
She implied that he had the legal authority to fire Mueller based on legal opinions within the WH and DOJ. At least that is what I heard. She was directly challenged by the reporter who said no Mueller could only be dismissed by Rosenstein. SHS repeated what she’d previously stated.
Of course the WH thinks Trump can do whatever he wants; our democracy is long gone under this petty tyrant. Who cares what the statute or DOJ rules say?
You do not have that power, Spanky. He doesn’t work for you. He works for the DOJ and his employment can only be terminated for good cause. Terminating him to obstruct justice - not good cause.
He’s firing Mueller, whatever byzantine route and Machiavellian methods he has to employ. Sanders was told to say this. Trump is serving Mueller and everyone else notice he’s through with all of it. Finished. Cohen is the one person other than Ivanka that might be red line material in Trump’s book, and Mueller crossed it. All that’s left now is for the Republic to survive the Constitutional crisis just over the horizon.
April asked the question everyone in the room wondered -me too. He’s got to have major regrets about being elected. All of his bad “deals” are eventually going to bite him in his big orange ass.
The dream is always the same…
Mueller (Bursting into Oval Office): "The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the iniquities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and goodwill, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his keeper and the finder of lost children. AND I WILL STRIKE DOWN UPON THEE WITH GREAT VENGEANCE AND FURIOUS ANGER THOSE WHO ATTEMPT TO POISON AND DESTROY MY BROTHERS, AND YOU WILL KNOW MY NAME IS THE LORD WHEN I LAY MY VENGEANCE UPON THEE!!!"
Trump: (Soils himself.)
Apologies to Samuel L. Jackson
Once again, Sarah, as with his “feelings,” there’s a difference between what Donny “believes” and “facts.”
Then it goes to a federal court.
“Good cause” will be whatever a few toadies in the DOJ says it is. As it was in McCabe’s firing.
Well, yeah, probably. Just like he had the absolute authority to fire James Comey, Trump has the authority to pull his Tuesday Night Massacre and keep firing and firing until he finds someone at DOJ willing to dismiss Mueller.
Now, doing so would obstruct justice just as firing Comey did. Does he want to go that route? We’ll see!
Echo-chamber scardier-than-thou twitter pearl-clutching about “oh no what if Mueller hasn’t thought about this, what if it catches him completely unawares, then the dotard will cancel the midterm election and and and” is no more useful today than it was yesterday or six months ago.
I repeat, then it goes to a federal court when Mueller opposes it.
Wait, are you telling me that there weren’t 3 - 5 million votes illegally cast in 2016?
My head is spinning…
he “believes” b/c people keep telling to do so and thats enough for him to do it. Pushing the inside of the unilateral executive power envelope more than 43 and darth.
I wonder if legal council was on board when she made that comment…or if the spin is in realtime…
With an intense glow coming from a monster taco salad…
The detestable woman is a latter-day Axis Sally.
Is saving the coven from the interminable witch hunt good cause?
But Grassley has told us that Mueller “would appreciate being fired so he would have an excuse for getting out of [the probe],” which Grassley said “looks like a dead end,” so why would he go to a Federal Court?
I’m with @spencersmom, my head is spinning.
