Discussion: White House Says It's Premature To Discuss If Trump Will Pardon Flynn

The Guardian says that Deutsche Bank has already complied with the subpoena.

I will have no problem ending up wrong about it…just my gut feeling.

The only thing that might keep Trump from bothering is realizing that Mueller already has everything he needs from Flynn other than live testimony at a criminal trial. Everything’s already on record under oath…and I bet on video tape…or Flynn wouldn’t have been allowed to plead guilty to only the one charge. Thus, there’s really no point in pardoning Flynn…which Trump may or may not realize…but also no real damage to the investigation if it happens (hopefully). Flynn’s already subject to arguments that he’s not credible…and Faux News and Derschowitz are doing everything they can to broadcast those arguments to the 4 corners of the potential jury pool. In the end, it kindof all comes down to whether these idiots realize how bad the optics look. Even if they do, I suspect they don’t care, because they’ve been setting new records daily for bad optics AND IT NEVER MATTERS. Heck, half of this stupid country will probably cheer him for it just because it’s a giant fuck you to everyone else.

Flynn is such a vengeful bastard, he’ll probably continue to cooperate with Mueller even if Trump pardons him.

@honeybadger Are you impugning the sterling reputation of…Jay Sekulow?!? (Bwahahahahahaha!)

And pardons in service of obstructing possible impeachment are null and void anyway…

The $60,000 question is if it’s premature to discuss Mueller’s firing.

Jared will likely need the pardon first – another failure to disclose just dropped…

The quote is “had subpoenaed financial records relating to the president are false”

My take is either a) DB handed over the requested documents voluntarily without a subpoena or b) the subpoena did not specifically say The PPresident. It said Trump Org or Kushner or something other than Donald PP Trump, Sr.

Deutsche Bank is a wonderful little black box; suspect oligarch money goes in, clean dollars spring out for Trump & Co.

What a great point! Seriously. By getting his cooperation and only charging him with probably the most minor of charges available to him, Mueller has effectively boxed everyone in. As someone pointed out in another thread, the kidnapping conspiracy, for instance, could be a state charge as well. If PP were to pardon him then exit Mueller, enter Schniderman. Mueller has hung a Damaclean sword over Flynn’s head, and it’s brilliant.

Exactly, in his plea negotiations, Flynn was no doubt made Queen for a Day in which he had to cop to everything he knows. Typically, any information garnered from those discussions would be off limits, but I’m wondering if that’s the case if he accepts a pardon.

So if this turns into all hell breaking loose - will the “irrational rambunctiousness” of the population be grounds for installation of national curfews, martial law, rounding up trouble makers and various other “temporary” suspensions of civil rights for the purposes of “preserving domestic tranquility”

because it appears that Trump views this all as a highly deranged game of Monopoly and he is Hell bent on “winning” at all costs - and if he feels sufficiently threatened he would stop at NOTHING to retain control

Trump could give a general pardon for all federal crimes Flynn committed or may have committed, like Ford did for Nixon.

Eh, I don’t think so. He’s been hearing the same hair-on-fire commentary about killing the Mueller investigation, and he has yet to pull the trigger on that one. I think it’s because someone was able to beat into his thick skull that firing Mueller/pardoning Flynn is more dangerous and detrimental to him than simply letting it play out. Plus, I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if he’s angry at Flynn for pleading out and thus being disloyal to him.

Madam Press Secretary: How long before this starts?

Thank you. I don’t have much knowledge in the area.
