So, by saying Trump never āintimatedā that he wanted to fire Mueller, Short may be technically telling the truth, especially when he further limits his comment to any conversation he, himself, had with the president.

Plausible Deniability is something the president is supposed to have to shield him from unethical or illegal activities. The Trump Admin uses it the opposite way, to not tell their people whatās going on so they can go on TV and honestly say they donāt know anything about anything. They also ignore news thatās been reported, so they can deny whatās already been confirmed.
The game theyāre playing is that if the person being interviewed doesnāt know the answer, then itās assumed to not be true. But all it really means is that the person being interviewed wasnāt told the answer and are only speaking for themselves and not Trump or his administration. But whatās the point of that? Youād get more inside Trump info by asking random people on the street than the people they send out to talk.
Their best move is to have spokespeople who are sequestered off-site where they can only read Trumpās books and watch the Apprentice before they break the seal and send them out to deny everything. And once they get too much info from the people interviewing them, theyāre discarded and replaced with another.
