A body was found in a dumpster and presumed it was hers ?
Instead of hand-wringing and promoting terror the US government should look at the ‘way too many states’ in the USA who are enacting draconian, illegal laws against the female population.
Quit fretting over ISIS, start tossing imbeciles from the statehouses!
Abortion is legal. A woman needs NO EXCUSE or REASON to obtain an abortion. We are already ‘back to the future’ with BACK ALLEY ABORTIONS THAT KILL OR IMPRISON REAL LIVE WOMEN!
Sharia Law, welcome to America.
Every sperm is sacred! Eggs not so much because they belong to icky girls and should be regulated.
Feticide’s biblical justification:
The Test for an Unfaithful Wife/ Numbers 5:11-21
"11 Then the Lord said to Moses, 12 “Speak to the Israelites and say to them: ‘If a man’s wife goes astray and is unfaithful to him 13 so that another man has sexual relations with her, and this is hidden from her husband and her impurity is undetected (since there is no witness against her and she has not been caught in the act), 14 and if feelings of jealousy come over her husband and he suspects his wife and she is impure—or if he is jealous and suspects her even though she is not impure— 15 then he is to take his wife to the priest. He must also take an offering of a tenth of an ephah of barley flour on her behalf. He must not pour olive oil on it or put incense on it, because it is a grain offering for jealousy, a reminder-offering to draw attention to wrongdoing.
16 “The priest shall bring her and have her stand before the Lord. 17 Then he shall take some holy water in a clay jar and put some dust from the tabernacle floor into the water.18 After the priest has had the woman stand before the Lord, he shall loosen her hair and place in her hands the reminder-offering, the grain offering for jealousy, while he himself holds the bitter water that brings a curse. 19 Then the priest shall put the woman under oath and say to her, “If no other man has had sexual relations with you and you have not gone astray and become impure while married to your husband, may this bitter water that brings a curse not harm you. 20 But if you have gone astray while married to your husband and you have made yourself impure by having sexual relations with a man other than your husband”— 21 here the priest is to put the woman under this curse—“may the Lord cause you to become a curse among your people when he makes your womb miscarry and your abdomen swell.”

Even more disturbingly, they appear to be drawing hospital staff into their quest. Sadly, when a hospital can’t be trusted to treat a complication without opening a police report, we truly have a crisis on our hands.
This part of the piece bugs me greatly. Our hospitals need to work together with the police, it is very important that they do so. Often times, a hospital’s police report is the first point of contact in getting a child or a woman out of an abusive household. The reports of gunshot wounds from hospitals are important in stopping crime. This idea that hospitals should never ask questions or talk to the police is dangerous, naive, and quite frankly stupid.
Well, in fairness, she did tell them that is where it was. Which is why they were searching there in the first place. Probably safe bet it was hers.
“Pro life” politicians want to make abortion illegal, therefore punishing the women who have them. They are not pro life, but pro punishment.
So the first question every reporter asks every pro punishment politician, every time a pro-punishment politician pontificates on Planned Parenthood, should cut to the chase:
“How do you want the government to punish a pregnant woman for terminating her pregnancy?”
WTF? Maybe hospital workers should do their freakin’ jobs and quit worrying about politics. ‘Do no harm’ and leave the rest to us.
Late-term abortions are illegal in 36 states, including Indiana, and the Supreme Court has repeatedly found those laws to be constitutional. Both of these cases are late term, both were viable babies. So under the law, as judged to be constitutional by the SCOTUS repeatedly, these late-term abortions were illegal. I expect both will be seeing jail time.
Don’t forget regulating the girls as they invariably become women and you know what that leads to. More abortions!
It’s not “never”, it’s “not in ways designed to send the person seeking care to jail”. We’ve been through this with any number of other public health issues, and the result has always been clear: if people think that going to a doctor or a hospital will get them put in jail, they won’t go. With results that are almost always really bad for both the patient and society in general. (See, for example, the current push in some states to get hospitals and clinics to check the immigration status of every patient coming in.)
Even the supremes have agreed thus far that late-term abortions are legal when the life of the pregnant woman is at risk. It would be hard to disprove that in either of these cases.
The war on women never stops from the GOP crowd, and now they’re criminalizing pregnant women to boot. Is this how they do voter outreach?
“knowingly or intentionally terminating a human pregnancy with an
intention other than to produce a live birth or to remove a dead fetus.”
So in Indiana one can be charged with feticide if the pregnancy does not result in a live birth …intentional or not??
That’s a huge assumption by the state in my opinion.
I guess this is filed under “lets be inclusive of women”.
They don’t tell their base that that means “your uterus belongs to the state”.
Curious that Indiana is proceeding against two people with scary-soundin’ FURRIN’ NAMES to build their track record of “feticide” convictions…
…and I doubt it’s coincidental.
Part and parcel of nearly all anti-abortion legislation is making abortion either delayed or very difficult to get, especially for poor women. Then, having forced the woman to carry the pregnancy close to term, they then forbid her from procuring a late term abortion.
The whole thing is dishonest and despicable.
