Hmmmmm. I sure do remember how Republicans denounced the ACA bill using those same exact words!
At this point, the Goopers are so invested in repeal that they are likely to pass a particulary injurious piece of legislation merely to âshow bushidoâ.
Remember during the Clinton administration when they took a run at overhauling health care and the Repubs were cryinâ the blues that it was being hatched âin secret?â That was hilarious!!
My God, theyâre bad at this. Theyâre not a party any more, theyâre a cult.
Weâll have to pass the bill to see whatâs in it.
This tells you exactly how bad it is. Theyâre not even letting other republicans see it, much less democrats.
Can the GOP be so stupid and short-sighted to actually vote on a proposal that hasnât been scored by the CBO, and maybe not even seen by the Democrats? Donât they recognize a risk of blowback on this explosive subject? I know, they are desperate enough to legislate in secret but I thought theyâd be more self-protective in their actions. What could â and will â go wrong for them?
The answer to your question is obvious - yes the GOP can be and has been stupid for the last decade or two ,to be kind.
And yet look at their election success⌠what does that say about our citizens?
These days âsecretâ means itâll take a day or two for the discussion to get to the media.
Yes, let them blunder âforwardâ in a tight little concealed circle. Then let the crosscurrents in the rest of the GOP rip their product to shreds. Or have another party-line vote to bring something out to the floor for a vote. The Dems + the âFreedom Caucusâ are enough to defeat it. Anything that they try to do will be SO wrong that both ends of the spectrum will oppose it, although for very different reasons.
Additionally, Rep. Chris Collins (R-NY), an Energy and Commerce member, told the Hill that the committee will likely vote on the legislation before the Congressional Budget Office finished scoring it, meaning questions about the billâs cost and how many people would be covered under it would still be unanswered.
So, theyâre not even going to wait long enough to see how much this fiasco of a repeal would cost??
The 1% must REALLY be breathing down the back of the GOPâs neck to get those damn tax cuts.
I have seen many apt adjectives used to describe todayâs republicans but my current favorite is vampires as they have such a fear of daylight and want to suck the blood out of our democracy. I just havenât decided which image I prefer - danger or clown

If they have to hide it, we need to fear the worst.
Except that it will actually mean that with the Republicans and their gutting of ACA.
My answers are, respectively:
- Yes -and they donât care because they believe that CBO is in bed with hippie dippy evil liberals trying to destroy their infinitely superior economic policies
- Yes- and, again, they donât care because they think that theyâve gotten themselves gerrymandered enough and enough votes suppressed that they can easily win re-election no matter what they do. Besides, if they do it now, people might have forgotten by next year or they might not show up to vote anyway (a fairly safe bet given Democratic voter patterns in recent elections)
- In spite of their aforementioned delusions, I think lots. Trumpublicans didnât come into office with a mandate and ACA repeal will hit them just as hard as it hits their liberal hippie foes and poor people whom would be uninsured without ACA. And this is assuming that they can get a replacement cobbled together that the âFreedom Caucusâ can stomach (and any bill the Freedom Caucus CAN stomach will NOT be one that Democrats can support).
IF the GOP were smart they would pass a resolution that saidâŚ

From this point forward the term Obamacare will never be used again in any congressional speeches, legislation or public appearances
-
From this point forward we will work with the other side of the isle to fix the problems in the Affordable Care Act.
Obamacare would be history and the ACA would get fixed to insure that 20 million enrollees would not lose their healthcare.
Get Fox news on board. With Fox news on board the Republicans could make it work.
Otherwise they are⌠shall we say screwed. Their voters are catching on with the fact that they have been lied to. And they are not happy. And the resistance will continues to grow.
Look at the town hall meetings. These are not paid protestors these are people who have figured it out. They have been lied to. Lies about Obamacare. Lies about Social Security, Lies about Medicare. All programs that the people want saved. Little by little the Congress members are seeing mad constitutients are real and they are speaking out.
âWhatâs To Hide?â
That is too easy.
Everything.
