I am coming around to the view that McConnell isnāt so evil as he is chickenshit. I donāt think he likes Trump at all but heās scared of him.

Pretty much. The shutdown is why I donāt buy into this idea that it was ever a tactic or that McConnell has ever been some criminal mastermind. For the latter, itās because McConnell has only ever had one tactic for his entire career: do nothing. Thatās it. He just sat there doing nothing for all of Obamaās presidency, he did nothing in order to hold out for the SCOTUS seat, and heās doing nothing now, but unfortunately for him heās forgotten that nothing is going to fall into his lap this time. He actually has to construct a legitimate strategy and make a difficult choice, because thatās what leaders do. Heās never had to do that his entire career and heās paralyzed because of it.

I am not seeing his so-called genius skills as a legislative leader. He broke the Senate when he blocked Merrick Garland.
