Discussion for article #238215
Let’s see:
Gut Wisconsin’s retirement system for public employees? Check.
Removing 1913 law stipulating that Wisconsin’s minimum wage “shall not be less than a living wage” Check
Allowing factories to force workers to work 7 day weeks in perpetuity. Check. (Koch bros. special)
More restrictions on unions. Check. (Of course)
Limiting police transparency in instances of civilian deaths. Ohhh yeah…
Revoking previous oversight efforts of law enforcement’s use of military grade weapons. Check, and What The Fuck?
It almost seemed as though the public records portion was a ruse to get the other stuff through without notice. They figured if it gets scrutiny they’ll pull it out, if not BONUS!
Glad this article compiles other matters in the bill but it still leaves out the Enbridge pipeline I read about yesterday. I hope it gets updated with that inclusion.
And that my friends, has the putrid smell of Koch dollars and energy lobbyists. written all over it.
I am REALLY glad I don’t live in Wisconsin.
C’mon Wisconsin, if you can’t get rid of that puke Walker, maybe you can buy the Milwaukee newspaper?
Those provisions hid inside of a budget bill sound like the first steps needed to be taken by a fascist. Walker is trying to obstruct public scrutiny of what he’s doing behind closed doors in his administration, as well as making WI workers into serfs to better service the needs of his multinational campaign supporters like the Koch Brothers.
Corruption. Check!
TPM and the rest of the media must’ve missed All the President’s Men.
“Follow the Money.”
This is the bigger story.
Hard to know where to start, other than to say this is a potential goldmine for Bernie Sanders or Hillary Clinton. Walker’s been able to get away with what he’s done because Wisconsin is not a media center. That situation may now change. This isn’t the work of unions, or “community activists” or ACORN, but rather of Walker and his campaign contributors.
My dog, what an awful human Scott Walker is showing himself to be. I am so glad these things are being aired. Walker and the Kochs are supremely horrible for the good of society. They really need to be behind bars for the rest of their natural lives … or flushed down an oil pipeline.
Fascism is a helluva drug.
Walker’s office involved in transparency issue,
What next? Hitler had a mustache?
Is Walker trying to outdo fellwo Wisconsinite Joe McCarthy?
I am curious why the Koch brothers are so interested in Wisconsin anyway. It’s not a pivotal state in any way, but perhaps they view it as long hanging fruit.
factory or mercantile workers will be allowed to opt-out of regulations requiring that employees receive 24 hours off within every seven consecutive work days.
Known in Labor circles as the “Right to Indentured Servitude” clause.
Don’t forget this is the same guy who, just a week after the Charleston tragedy, signed a bill to get rid of the waiting period to buy a gun in Wisconsin. It will take a long time for us to recover from the damage he has visited upon our state.
That whole budget needs to be thrown out! There are too many non-financial items in there which further attacks the average Wisconsin resident. Even electricians are being attacked by allowing many more items that can be done by unlicensed electricians.
This is Walker’s plan: turn the Wisconsin residents into uneducated peasants who provide slave labor for the elite rich. If they die early due to no health insurance or health care so what. They will soon be replaced by the forced birthing of women.
Walker wants to be the dictator of Wisconsin. He also thinks he can do to the country what he is currently doing to Wisconsin.
Well, that’s part of it. The really bad parts are too lengthy to be listed in one post.
The Real Stupid Part of it is that all of this would have been avoided if the-people-affected- by-all-this-while-disagreeing-with-Walker also had the sense to vote. Holding rallies in the State House is far more colourful than voting but far less effective.
Granny and Gramps on the Dairy Farm never watched the rallies (or maybe they did, for fun), but when the Time Came, they just hitched up the mini-van (or pick-up truck), moseyed on down to the Polls (as always) and (as always) outvoted everyone else.
…and a Goveror, running for re-election or in a re-call election should have to get 50% + 1 of the eligible voters (not those voting) to be re-elected or retained as Governor.
