Discussion: What Congressional Republicans' Snub Of Obama's Budget Really Says

It’s like Alice in Wonderland with these people… They block legislation that would improve the economy, then blame Obama for the economy not doing better…

“…like this Administration’s previous budgets, will double down on the same failed policies that have led to the worst economic recovery in modern times,”

To the contrary. Thus has been our nation’s greatest economic recovery, in that it has been accomplished with absolutely zero assistance from republican legislators. History will give President Obama his due.

They’re going to keep up scorched-earth politics until 2020, when the redistribution following the census will make them a permanent minority party in just about everywhere except Idaho and Wyoming.

Heck, if we could just convince enough liberals to move to those rural areas en mass, we could take them too.

Let’s not mince words.

It comes from conservative grifters who purport to represent the Christian religion. They espouse hate, racism, torture, and the complete elimination of the nation’s founding principles of individual freedom and majority rule.

KendyZdad is clearly snarking.

Anyhow, why should anybody be remotely surprised by this GOP action at the end of Obama’s Presidency? It’s exactly how the Republicans began it, even before Obama was inaugurated. It would have been a shocker if they’d done anything different.

Oh, never mind. When Bernie is elected President, which should be a snap with the same people who voted in this Congress enthusiastically supporting the “Socialist,” he will get all of his programs through. It will be Yuuuuuge…a real slam-dunk.

Also, don’t forget that Congressional Dems ran away from Obama in both those midterms. Nearly all of them tacked right from Obama. And Obama is as centrist a Dem as you can find. Further proof that Dems need to get back to the roots of progressivism and stop trying to be Republican light. If you show people you will fight for them, they will come out and vote.

With Trump, this and a “racial reality” most people living through the Civil Rights Movement should weep at, that’s all there is to say.

Those are the people–like it or not–we STILL HAVE TO RELY ON.

The rest of the U.S. are Baggers or Distracteds

[In his $4 trillion budget, Obama proposed investing $320 billion in “clean” public transportation initiatives over the next decade, in universal access to preschool and in food access programs for underprivileged kids. He also proposed raising the capital gains tax and imposing a new tax on crude oil] Oh, the horror! The Horror!

Chairman Tom Price (R-GA): “Why lawwdy’! It wuz’ an uppity budget. That colored man sent us an uppity budget to consider!!! Weuns’ don’t even need to see such a thang’ here in Congress! Weuns’ need to git back to the policies of ar’ glorious Dear Leader George Dubya’ Bush so ar’ recovery will be built on sound, tried and true GOP tricklin’ down economics and will be faster. Harrrumph…harrumph.”

I like this, but can’t agree completely with the premise that this nation’s founding principles include individual freedom and majority rule. We are, and have always been multiple nations, in which the “clash of civilizations” has been a constant since the Revolution.

The Southern Nation, and its cultural colonies in rural areas and small towns all over the country, have always been based on different principles. Despite being forced - literally - to accept individual freedom as a matter of law, the Southern Nation has never accepted the principle that anyone other than white, male, appropriately Christian, wealthy or propertied people are entitled to individual freedom. And it has always fought for the idea that majority rule only counts when it reflects the interests of those privileged categories of people.

Actually I’m glad they made this move. It will, in the minds of many undecided American voters, further cement the idea that Republicans are racist pieces of dog shite. This may backfire on them big time by galvanizing millions of past Obama voters to come out again this election season and smite those damn rascals once again.

Sure, rather than spend time accepting the Presidents budget as Congress has traditionally done for decades, maybe spend that precious time repealing Obamacare or any of the numerous successful steps he’s taken in the past seven years. Maybe even bring bin Laden back to life?

That it was never going anywhere is not shocking but it is surprising that they are ignoring him outright. Many do that through time but this is outright disrespectful. It also sets things up poorly in the future. Really, any policy you do not agree with could be grounds to throw the baby and the bathwater out.

The Constitution even says this is one of the presidents jobs and apparently the GOP only cares about that when they want to read something a certain way.

Agree, anything that any black man may suggest on any topic is always suspect and should not be given any credence… including Michael Jordan on basketball, Wille Mays on Baseball, George Washington Carver on science, Duke Ellington on music, Thurgood Marshall, James Baldwin, Colin Powell, Condoleezza Rice, etc, etc, etc…

Hope you’re right, because we keep saying that. I just haven’t seen it happen yet.

…so they are so busy with other stuff that they have no time to have any hearings on the Presidents proposed budget. If I have my calculations right that will free up enough time to take about 8 more votes to repeal the ACA and still take a 7 week summer vacation.

Now that is responsible governance. :rage::sleepy::cry::disappointed_relieved::poop:
