the White House sent Acosta a letter on this weekend warning the correspondent that his press pass would be suspended again after the restraining order expires

Trump knows his audience.

Acosta pulled the microphone away from the intern so he could continue speaking.

No. The intern attempted to pull the microphone away from Acosta so he could be silenced. A bit of a difference. Stop supporting their bullshit narrative.

So the White House broadcasts its insecurities once again.

Likewise, we learn of their plan to violate our Constitution ā€œjust becauseā€ ā€“even before the first question is raised.

Sooner or later even Republicans should realize that Trump is simply incapable of understanding his role as President.

Nah. Not gonna happen. Before the TRO expires the court will hold a hearing and almost certainly issue a preliminary injunction that will block the WH from lifting Acostaā€™s pass without court approval, until the case is finally disposed of. Which will probably be after the Mango Menace is out of the Oval.

Taking transparency to a whole new level. If these guys robbed banks for a living, theyā€™d probably send a letter of intent first.

The LBJ White House denied a press pass to Robert Sherrill, a reporter for The Nation, in 1966. At that time, WH press passes required an FBI background check, which is still true for permanent press passes. Sherrillā€™s request was denied because he had once punched the press secretary of the governor of Florida, but he was never informed of the reason. Some years later he sued in federal court, and in 1977, the court ruled that the WH must admit all journalists unless the Secret Service deems them a physical threat to the President.

Trumpā€™s got nothing left but to issue empty threats at people who no longer cower when he roars.

LoOk, yā€™all. Temporary means temporary. We can get right back to suppressing the first amendment as soon as we want to.

BTW, even InfoWars has gotten in using the daily pass, which was instituted in response to the 1977 ruling and requires a lower standard of clearance.

There are several ways to ā€œplayā€ Trump ā€¦ Acosta has spotlighted one ā€¦and now Trump putting it on full display ā€¦ Trump will obsess about ā€œwinningā€ against Acosta ā€¦ Trump will seek to beat him in this struggle ā€¦ or ā€¦ if it appears futile ā€¦ Trump will cheat ā€¦ or redefine the battle so that he can seize upon some minor point - declare himself the winner and walk away.

Honestly, PPā€™s attorneys arenā€™t any brighter than him. This is going to piss off the judge bigly.

Wonā€™t it be quicker to just cut to the chase, revoke all press passes, then only re-issue them with the requirement to swear a suitably-worded loyalty oath? Or to severely limit the number of passes and invite the hard-right press to apply for them first?

Iā€™m sure announcements like this will be helping the WHā€™s legal caseā€¦no animus hereā€¦
