They fly in the motorcades as well. Each time the President chooses to go to a new, previously unsecured location for a stay, it costs massive amounts of money. That, along with minimizing disruptions, is one of the big reasons for Camp David.

Buuut trumpy ain’t no kinda a country boy. He’d be bored and want to leave inside 10 minutes by the bucolic setting of Camp David. Trump’s a creature of the canyons of NYC and is only comfortable swathed in diesel fumes and car exhaust.

The Hucksterette is smooth, not counting her entirely inappropriate choice of clothing. She smoothy repeated the carefully prewritten spin on every topic that was brought up. The reporters got nothing whatsoever from this “press conference,” just well rehearsed public relations spin. To people in this job (and I think hypocrisy comes a lot easier to a lot of Southerners) the truth is only a distant concept. The object is to paint a picture that sounds good and sells your product no matter what the reality is. She is pretty smooth at doing this.
The other side of this is the reporters who treat her like they are at a cocktail party or applying for a job. We need to get Charles Pierce and Rude Pundit and others like that in there. The NYT reporter who said something positive about her performance is an idiot. Being good at lying and obfuscation is not an admirable trait.

She is emblematic of the smug, self-congratulatory obtuseness and towering, utterly unjustified self-regard that confers that uniquely Timesian imperviousness to criticism that has cost the NYT a whole lot of subscriptions this year. Dan Baquet’s idea of a great reporter, in other words.
She’s just so unbelievably impressed with herself and so enragingly blind to all the reasons she shouldn’t be.
