Discussion: WH Reveals List Of Russian Politicians, Oligarths, Won't Fulfill Other Sanctions

Being on the list doesn’t trigger any U.S. sanctions on the individuals, although more than a dozen are already targeted under earlier sanctions.

My family gets all the funding we need from Russia.

From the Washington Post today…sound like anyone you know???

MILOS ZEMAN, the president of the Czech Republic, speaks and acts as if he were a pure Russian agent. Virtually alone among senior Western politicians, he defends the seizure and annexation of Crimea by the regime of Vladimir Putin, denies the presence of Russian forces in eastern Ukraine and calls for the lifting of all sanctions on the regime. Following his reelection Saturday, he reiterated his proposal that Czechs vote in a referendum on whether to remain in NATO and the European Union — the fracturing of which is the Kremlin’s most treasured goal. It therefore shouldn’t be surprising that Mr. Zeman’s narrow reelection was aided in part by significant spending of unknown origin, and by a vicious online disinformation campaign directed against his opponent.

Couldn’t a failure to enact the sanctions that were passed by a huge margin from both sides be considered ‘contempt of congress’? Isn’t that impeachable? – have to do some research, wasn’t c of congress one of Nixon’s crimes? If they fail to enact those who go against congress should be considered coconspirators.

I’d love to see the State of the Union speech given to an empty audience because everyone would boycott.

Add to that, Turkey’s (also a NATO member) recent scold towards the US to stay out of Turkey’s military business conducted in Syria after attacking the Kurds (also a US ally who we fund militarily). We are beginning to experience tRump’s scorched-earth, loosely formed foreign policy coming back to bite us in the ass, which will reverse years of alliance-building painstakingly formed following WW2. It was #2 I believe on Russia’s wishlist for tRump to make sure he made that happen, or else…

“Oligarths”??? Need to fix that title.

You do realize who is in charge of congress right now? This is so far from what the GOP requires to even consider a censure…At this point, it would be nice to see an acknowledgement and ‘concern’ from a handful of GOPers. We aren’t even getting that.

Slightly O/T
Today is the second to the last of of the month.
Today is the second or third day of the week, depending on how your calendar is laid out.
Why do I feel is if it’s the 11 month of the year?
Why do I feel this early in AM that today is the fifth or sixth day of the week, depending on how your calandar is laid out?
But I guess most importantly why do I feel the mid-terms feel like they are 12 months away?

The timing of this and the Nunes fuckery is interesting. This is the week that most Americans will see that extra $20.00 in their take home. Maybe they thought that would make the populace more tolerant.

Who’s gonna make him do that? Who’s going to charge him with contempt of Congress? Not this bunch of GOPers in leadership. Ain’t gonna happen and he knows it. My question is why did he leave out the people linked to Russia’s intelligence or defense agencies? That includes countries that tRump probably does business with himself, I suspect. The whole thing stinks to high heaven.

I think ‘scorched earth’ is really the common theme in Trump policies foreign and domestic…he’t looking to burn it all down…you mention the foreign policy, but Mulvaney in charge of CFPB and budget; DeVos in education; Perry in Energy…all people who have advocated to eliminate what they are nominally in charge of…

How can a man who has lived such a privileged life in this country, hate it so much?

A bit OT, but what a lovely piece of Origami!

a surprising announcement that [the Administration] had decided not to punish anybody — for now — under new sanctions retaliating for the election-meddling

“Surprising” to whom?

It’ll start to fly by quickly once winter is over. Primaries in some states begin as early as March.

Well, this certainly supports his claim that the Mueller investigation is a hoax and a witch hunt. All the Republicans who refuse to do anything are complicit, and it’s getting to be quite apparent that they all got Russian money and know it.

He thinks our institutions have always been in his way. He thinks he has “made it” in spite of them, not because of them.

It’s a common affliction among Republicans and successful criminals.

My first thought upon seeing it. Very nice.

No, the man loves this country. From his point of view it’s been Big Mac’s and beautiful women.

It’s us he hates. And so, until we become more orderly, completely submissive, and most importantly, more adoring, his displeasure and ranting will continue.
