Yep blame the Dems.
Rest assured WH if there is nothing to it it will go away. But then again Trump could pardon him. So you still have a fall back.
No, an 11th hour effort to derail a deeply flawed nominee…
BTW, Donnie, your master’s have a suitable replacement SCOTUS nominee when Kavanaugh withdraws.
Then there is this! This judge resigned because of sexual allocations against him.
If this White House were competent, this could be taken as ironclad proof that Kavanaugh has some big, nasty skeletons that were about to come out. Because if he didn’t, then the smart play would be some sort of mealy-mouthed statement like “oversight is important, and we respect the FBI’s investigation which we hope will proceed quickly in the interests of concluding the process”. Or something.
But this White House isn’t competent, so it’s entirely possible they are committing a foolish own-goal even if it turns out that the contents of the letter are unimportant or the concerns ill-founded.
Not laying odds, just saying you can’t treat them as sober, rational actors. More like bucket of blind, drunken snakes.
In the meantime, though, this morning Judiciary did postpone the vote til next week. Because of the hurricane? Maybe. Maybe they don’t have the votes? Maybe the Feinstein referral has legs?
Confirm him, then impeach his ass for committing perjury…
Don’t give the Dotard another pick by running out the clock…
“Throughout 25 years of public service, the Federal Bureau of Investigation has thoroughly and repeatedly vetted Judge Kavanaugh, dating back to 1993, for some of the most highly sensitive roles.”
k
I’m old enough to remember this WH using a similar tactic, when trying to save Flynn’s job, but k.
Has the NYT or AP published a “Kavanaugh’s Clouds and Shadows” article yet?
Blocking the confirmation takes 51 votes in the Senate. Impeachment takes a majority vote in the House and a conviction takes a 2/3 majority vote in the Senate. Impeachment of a SC Justice has only happened once in the nation’s history and that judge still wasnt convicted.
Judge Kavanaugh has had 65 meetings with senators—including with Senator Feinstein—sat through over 30 hours of testimony, addressed over 2,000 questions in a public setting and additional questions in a confidential session.
Too bad it took Senator Feinstein until today to read the thousands of pages of documents we dumped on the Democrats right before the hearings.
It’s absolutely adorable when the GOP complains about a delay in voting on a SCOTUS justice.
Do it again guys so I can giggle some more.
When they start throwing around number of hours, meetings, and questions, you know there’s fire underneath the smoke.
I’ve got a counter-number: Judge Kavanaugh has answered zero questions regarding how he has ruled, currently would rule, and will rule in future. He has dissembled, hemmed, hawed, guffawed, and filibustered in response to over 2,000 questions, however.
Dang! That seems like ages ago.
It would be a fine irony if the Judge Who Would Overturn Roe had a #MeToo incident that involved payments to cover up the termination of a pregnancy…
And it was his sister.
Nice touch, Stevie.
