Discussion: WH Confirms Trump Meeting With Schumer Over Looming Gov't Shutdown

Has Schumer brought a Dem colleague or three to witness a possible GOP ambush with racist invective? That’s what happened to Durbin in his Thursday meeting with trump.

What? trumpp’s wearing a fancy dress to a party? Never mind, but really, trumpp doesn’t understand the art of negotiating, wants to party somewhere with rich people showering love and money on him. There’ll be schmoozing and ultimately agreement.

If we knew who else was in the room with them, we’d know how ‘real’ this meeting is.

My guess is this will be a complete waste of time, but if you’re Schumer you never say ‘no’ to the meeting even if you know it will go nowhere.

If they’re not in the room they will be scratching on the door the whole time like crazy trying to get in. Or plotting to pounce on T-boy as he exits the room.

Is there any way Schumer can bring his emotional support shark to the meeting?

Quickest way to deflate Democratic 2018 chances-

Schumer gets suckered into a non-existent deal and comes off looking like a chump. Again.

We do not negotiate with terrorists or blackmailers- even those with an ‘R’ behind their name.

Not sure Schumer needs other than Democratic Senators to become majority leader. But the guy’s not in the building yet. Give him a chance to talk before you condemn him to the remainder pile.

@established_1781 So the Thought Of The Day is that Schumer who’s been in the Senate since 1998 is a sucker just waiting to be flummoxed by the dumbest, least engaged politician we’ve ever seen.

God = no shit.

I can’t see that Schumer has sold us out yet so what the hell - if he can schmooze the asshole back into the same position he took publicly after Senator Feinstein suggested it, we will win.

There are a lot of other Senators who are more likely to fold than Schumer and that would be DINOs, and those running for president or reelection in 2018. He’s none of these.

No. He is not. If past is prelude…and it is…he will make some sort of wishy-washy compromise. Taking them down to the socks and drawers in this instance is either getting everything we demand or allowing them to cause the shutdown and be roasted alive for it. The former will not happen and that leaves one choice. We’ll see though. If I’m wrong and the former happens, I’ll be happy to say I was wrong.

I hope Schumer wears a wire. Whatever happens in that room, if Tramp gets a whiff of negative press, he’ll deny it all.

At least we all know that Chuck knows that Tramp is not a good faith negotiator.

See you all later and I’ll bring the Champagne.

I am definitely giving him a chance. That was the whole point of my comment. And my call to his office earlier today.

I’m actually cautiously optimistic. Like I said, I think Trump is desperate for a deal. And Schumer is no dummy.

According to reports it’s strictly a one-on-one meeting; no Miller.

A mic, a mic, my kingdom for a hot mic on the little neo-Nazi right about now.

Yes indeed if Schumer can get him to give us the DACA bill we want everyone will win. You’re right about that.

Schumer: Understand you have a 9 am tee time and a party tomorrow night
Trump (downtrodden): well, duh, yeah, but the Turtle sez i can’t go
Schumer: I know you want to go, so want to know how?
Trump: You bet I would!
Schumer: Well, sign on the dotted line here and not only will you get to play golf and be with your rich buddies but you’ll get 800,000 more people to vote for you
Trump: WHERE’S MY PEN??!!???

Clearly Trump wants to get a deal so he can head down to Florida to be lavishly praised by the hoi polloi paying beaucoup bucks for the pleasure.

Chuck knows that and I suspect he will cut a deal with Trump - getting exactly what the D’s want - but allowing it to look like Trump negotiated with him in good faith. Chuck is far more clever than Trump and knows exactly how to play him

The key will be getting the deal out to the public before Miller et al get to see it

In other words, there is 0% incentive to compromise with Trump. But if history is any indicator, Democratic “Leadership” will throw Trump a life preserver instead of an anchor…
