Discussion: WH Cautious On Revelation That Trump Team Info Was 'Incidentally Collected'

So which rules was the FISA warrant using? Only people who talked to russian intelligence directly, or also the people they talked to?

I don’t completely understand what Nunes is doing. Obviously he is carrying water for Trump, but is that all? It really isn’t helpful to give the impression—right or wrong—that Trump and his people were massively surveilled. A lot of people will think this means he was really corrupt.

This is not the first time Spicer has said Trump’s actions were “incidental”. No doubt Spicer also thought the women who were violated by Trump’s “incidental” hand grabbing were the perpetrators of dastardly acts of minding their own businesses.

Notice that Trump’s info was incidentally collected not regarding Russia. That is, the IC was investigating another shady foreigner that Trump’s team was in contact with. How many scandals are there?

Multiple sources confirming that Nunes didn’t share this info with Schiff. And why is Nunes going to the WH to brief Trump? Because Intel won’t because IC has something on Trump?

Yes. Only a servile “my boss right or wrong” Republican could polish this turd.

I think Nunes could end up going to jail over his behavior. This secret meeting with Trump is indefensible. He’ll definitely be in need of a good dairy farmer soon.

There was a big Russian mafia investigation that Preet was on. Mafia was operating out of Trump Tower.

A joke? Sorry if I’m missing it. “Incidental” means the intelligence community was investigating a foreigner, as they can, and as part of their information gathering, they also get information about a US person. I.e., if the IC is investigating the Russian ambassador, and Flynn calls him, then they will “incidentally” collect info on Flynn. Flynn is not the target. This is legit. There are rules about what they can do with incidentally collected info on US persons.

As tempting as it is to post a snarky comment in response to this, I’ll instead just say what I think is becoming more clear by the day:

A bunch of these guys are going to jail. It’s irrelevant what Nunes says. They’re toast.

Yeah, no shit, that’s the problem…

They speak of a raving lunatic…

Maybe Trump will call back his investigators from Hawaii so that we could all marvel when they tell him “You will not believe what we are finding out”!

Though Nunes is going to the WH to brief Trump? Weird.

Exactly. Nunes is blowing smoke where there is a raging bonfire.

How long will it take for Trump’s approval rating among Republicans to dip below 80%?

I think 75% of Republicans will support him no matter what because one word… Gorsuch.

Nunes is hardly a disinterested person here. He was on the Trump “transition team”, though I am too lazy to look up the details. It’s long past time for a special prosecutor, but I’m equally sure the DOJ will never appoint one. The fix is in, but let’s wait to see what the FBI reports.
