Discussion: Watchdog Groups File FEC Complaint Over Trump Emails To Foreign Pols

Emotionally, I agree with your point, but it’s not weak journalism on the part of TPM. Unless they have clear evidence that the Trump campaign did that, they cannot state so – especially when dealing with such a litigious bully-fuck such as Donald J. Trump and his family. They are freaks in our country and will tie you up in court over a grudge match – even if they know they’ll likely lose, because it’s all about the bullying to them, making the other person or organization expend precious resources and time. Remember, they have deep pockets and aren’t afraid to dig down. TPM is being safe–and officially correct–with that sentence … even if we readers do know it’s total BS in reality.

This is horrendous and criminal yet I can’t help but being amused by his other emails asking for $5 and up. A fin. Half a sawbuck. This grift just isn’t pulling in the large dollars.

Thank you. I’ve been wondering this as well. Good question. It will be interesting how this unfolds over the next week.

Agree. Trump gets treated with kid gloves. Oh, he didn’t know. No harm, no foul. We all know if Hillary did this there would be a major 2 year investigation, costing millions of tax payer dollars.

I agree. This is particularly true with the one that TPM posted from a MP in Australia in which the “To” line said, “Tim (MP).”

“It is a no-brainer that it violates the law to send fundraising emails to members of a foreign government on their official foreign government email accounts…”

Exactly! That’s one reason why we have allegedly “unaffiliated” and definitely anonymous super-PACs; to auction influence on a global scale to serve world-wide market demand to buy it. After all, it’s just speech.

My understanding is that the emails were sent by Donald Jr. who, of course, is getting a paycheck from the campaign, so that pretty much means that the campaign is responsible for the email solicitations.

If pleading ignorance doesn’t work, they can always enter an insanity plea.

I’m pretty sure that would be a successful defense.

Does he even get national security briefings at this point?

Sweet jaysus, I hope not.

You win the internets for the day!!!

The toothelessness is usually attributed to the (equal?) division of membership on the Commission between Republicans and Democrats. But what if the Republicans are RNC Republicans looking for a way to get out from under a Trump drubbing, before Cleveland?

This is just the beginning of reports of ham fisted, ignorant, incompetent actions we’ll see from the Vulgar Yam’s campaign.

Where’s my popcorn?

Rails are so 19th century, limiting, Bolshevik collectivist liberal and reliant on big gubmint subsidies.

Actually, I am not sure this is illegal. True, he cannot ACCEPT such donations. But it may not be illegal to ASK for such donations.

Just incredibly stupid and wasteful.

It’s kind of mind-blowing just how badly Trump is fucking this up. I’m loving it.

I blame Trump U. Actually I wish we’d switch to only public funding and shorter elections cycles. They are such a waste of time and money.
