Last Halloween I took my daughter trick or treating in DC - world embassies then capital hill neighborhood. Best Halloween ever! Only thing missing was TT’ing the Whitehouse - settled for a tour the day after.

They will be missed. Their dignity and good humour, in the face of almost unrelenting vilification, will be more attractive and valued as time goes on.

And, as time goes on, the racists and bigots who made life difficult for them will morph from FOX “news” guest or TV Host, or Talk Radio “Commentator” to blights on American History, like the Oppressors of Ante Bellum life, Jim Crow life and the Civil Rights Struggle.

President Obama has been in the White House for more than six and a half years and he still manages to show us again and again that he is a real, honest, caring, decent man. GWB talked about bringing honor back to the presidency. Well President Obama does that over and over.

He is such a refreshing contrast to the grifters, game show hosts, used car salesmen and clowns that the GOTP keeps pretending are “presidential” material.*

I honestly am baffled at Maureen Dowd’s assertion that the man is “distant and aloof.” I don’t know if he’s a hearty backslapper like the old-fashioned county commissioner type, but the whole family seems to have deep reserve of warmth and charm.
