Prior to passing #Obamacare
â the Senate debated 25days
â filed 506 amendments (228 from GOP)
â took 34 roll call votes
Yes, but⌠prior to 2017, the GOP-controlled house repealed the ACA a total of 24,788 times.
Hatch was caught flat-footedâŚagain.
We could just do a youtube video of all the simple questions lately in Congress that result in absolute silence⌠Maybe just a sequence of blank stares.
Watching Senator McCaskill makes me wonder why we donât have more women in the Congress. As a man, I have concluded that men have held exclusive power for way too long. Womenâs voices hit notes we need to hear.
Though I donât wonder at all, though I agree with you.
this is a phenomenal clip. She totally called them out on their bogus back-room process, and I thought it was especially good the way she called out Hatch and Grassley specifically as long-time senators who should be appalled at the destruction of regular order.
I know Dems canât do much on this, and considering McConnell is now dedicated to pushing it through, I donât have much hope that it will turn out any other way. Dems making statements like this are still important though.
Agreed on all counts. Would add only, those who underestimate McCaskill seem to do so at their peril.
Imho, sheâs one of the few Dâs who could run/win WH in '20
And Hatch is reported to be the person being groomed to take the mantle of the presidency as Drumpf, Pence and Ryan are all caught up in the Russia Thing. SMH.
Letâs not leave out Governors, especially when theyâre delivering opening statements:
There are a record number of women in Congress, but itâs still far too low, and doesnât represent the number of women or the diversity in the population. I think weâll see more women running in the next couple of years; what the Rs did to Hillary is motivating women all over the country. Words to heed from MLK: The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends towards justice.â
As to women in the senate, let me say this. Our junior senator Barbara Boxer retired after a number of years, two women ran for the seat, and the woman who won is Kamala Harris. Also, there are three states which have two female senators, CA, NH, and WA, very good for all concerned.
Great point, but I wouldnât count out the likes of Hatch and Grassley just yet - not that either one has much basic integrity, but what they do possess in abundance is a keen sense of self-preservation. Itâs not that theyâll put country before party - clearly - but what they will do is put Hatch and Grassley before T[_]UMP. Iâd say itâs a question of when, not if, theyâll cut the Russian agent loose.
ETA - no prediction as to how long âwhenâ takes.
I thought for sure that Mon-sewer Marmalade was gonnaâ pick this lame-brain for VP.
Guess that was a b____ too far even for this repugnican âestablishmentâ
Bravo. However, it appears these fools will once again lead America off a cliff in service to masters with God only knows what motivation at heart.
I only pray that after once again stalling national progress we will be able to recover from more GOP ashes.
You might as well call out a dog for licking his nuts. Youâll get the same level of shame and contrition.
And to think. If not for the words âlegitimate rapeâ, Todd Aiken would be sitting in that chair instead of a smart person.
Better lay in a goodly supply of prayer blankets in that aspiration
Louise Mensch says this guy (Hatch) is gonna be President when the smoke clears ?
Oh Lordy !
