Discussion: Watch Claire McCaskill Call Out Top GOPer On Obamacare Repeal Secrecy

She maneuvered very savvily to ensure that that idiot would be her opponent in the GE. She ran a terrific campaign.

Yes, great idea for an ad.

Well, argh. Not like I was happy about that line of succession before, but this clip does not bode well for Hatch’s response abilities.

Man between that and the McCain hearing “questioning”, a lot of these older men are just not coming across as remotely well or functioning.

What is Mensch’s deal, anyway- not sure what to make of her. Possible agent provocateur, perhaps? Tough charge to level, I realize.

OLD WHITE MEN in black suits in backrooms making deals.

If hatch think he won’t face a backlash in Utah he’d better think again.

The DEPLORABLES will NOT EVER get back the Congress, Senatre or the WH. This WILL BE a ONE PARTY country and the ONE party will be Democrats.

There is a back lash coming and I’m glad to say I’m mot a Republican…Republicans will RUE THE DAY

Hatch runs things just like the Mormon Church does…DIRTY White OLD MEN IN BACKROOMS MAKING DECISIONS…Ignoring WOMEN. You’ll RUE the day MR.

Any Dem who can win statewide in Missouri is a pol to be reckoned with.

ETA - hell, never mind win, any D who can run competitively in MO is no dummy.

She’s interesting, but a bit around the bend, as she might say. All these Twitter warriors are in this heated competition to out scoop each other. There’s even teams !

My favorite part: “I know you that doesn’t make you happy … because you have been in the Senate soooooooo long.”

Hatch looks like he has a case of Sen. McGrumpypants-style dementia. Or is it simply Coats-style dumbfounded-ness?

Terrific statement from Senator McCaskill! All Democrats in the Senate need to keep hammering this.

My diagnosis: sanctimonious arrogance

I suspect this congress will successfully repeal the ACA, and replace it with something that is far worse for the American people, causing a backlash so large that Republicans will lose control over Congress and the POTUS in the next election. Democrats will then have the mandate to repeal the Republican healthcare law, and replace it with something so simple and universal that it will even get a few Republican votes, that being single-payer health care. We won’t get single-payer until we experience something far worse beforehand, and what Republicans are doing now is a solid start in that direction. Republicans are simply exposing themselves for who they truly are: Russian agents.

I especially enjoyed the way that Senator McCaskill persisted in delivering her argument.

That’s a good description. Some of the claims bore fruit, but some seemed so outlandish that I’d seen speculatuon she was putting stuff out there to discredit the Resistance.

Good advice.

Not just for Republicans.

But also for those party purists who keep shrieking, “She’s nothing but a DINO!”

Senator-for-Life Orrin Hatch is the embodiment of all that is wrong in modern politics.

That said, my fellow Utahns would gladly vote to send Hatch back to Washington even if time has reduced him to dust.

Hatch seems to be in rare form.

From WaPo today (spacing added):

Many other Republican lawmakers simply dismissed Comey’s testimony as a nothing-burger. The best quote illustrating this comes from Politico’s Burgess Everett:

“I never did think it was going to amount to much, because first of all there’s nothing there,” Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) told reporters. “But people around here just love to make something out of nothing and that’s basically what you have there. Tell me otherwise.” Then Hatch added: “Of course, I haven’t been in the hearing.”

Let that sink in: Hatch did not watch the hearing, yet he said it proved “there’s nothing there.”

You’ve lost your mind. You suggest we nominate a pro-corporate, pro Wall St moderate Dem? Democrats like her are the reason we’re in the situation we’re in…she’s weak and corrupt.
