Don’t apologize, Coop. No one from Trumplandia will.
No problem Anderson, it’s hard not to be rude to idiots like this.
I don’t think he should have apologized. Sure, he was being a bit condescending, but he had a point and I for one am glad to see “journalist” starting to push back on these crazies when they come on their shows.
I know it makes a whole lot of right wing spinners uncomfortable, but if that’s your job, you better grow thicker skin and learn how to deal with people pushing back on your spin, instead of just receiving carte blanche to smugly throw out your lie without question.
Stand your ground, Cooper. It’s the only way to deal with bullies.
so there you have it… the Republicans wanna talk like John Wayne or Ah-nold but when push comes to shove they lift their skirts and tiptoe away…
apologies to all the women that serve with honor…
More journalist need to challenge this stuff. Most just sit there and let it go. Good for you, AC!
““Not much in the Muslim world, because I don’t want to get killed,” Dean responded.”
Really? The guy thinks that if you go anywhere in “the Muslim world”, you’ll get killed?
No wonder he had no problem with the racist question and the disgusting way Trump handled it.
(For the record, I’ve spent a great deal of time in “the Muslim world” - including at least 15 Muslim majority countries - and somehow avoided death.)
Which just proves Anderson is the better, more mature person. At least, it proves it to sane, rational people like you and me.
“Potential reports”!!!
CODE RED, CODE RED
Good on Anderson for not tolerating fools.
God forbid that someone be rude to shills, liars, crackpots.
I thought Anderson showed remarkable restraint. I would have wanted to shake some sense into the guy.
No apology necessary Anderson, and you know “The Donald” never apologizes. I saw this incident at the town hall gathering, and it took me back to how McCain responded to the woman saying the same basic thing. I’m not a McCain fan, but gave him cred for how he handled that situation. Trump is now pandering just like all the other politicians who he says he isn’t like. He is a nasty man and unsuitable to lead our country.
If there is anything worth while coming out of Trumps racism it is that the media seems to be finally calling out the bull shit that these Republican wingers are pushing. For far to long, starting shortly after the attacks in New York, Republicans have been on this bigoted and racist tear, not excluding the opposition to their illegal invasion of Iraq, staring with all Muslims and then quickly realizing that they could get away with it, moving on the to Hispanics and Latino’s and then finally after President Obama was elected president, African Americans!
Calling out the bigoted and racist nationalist republican wingers should have been something that was done years ago. If they where called out for their hatred we probably wouldn’t be talking about this right now!
Said it before, I’ll say it again: NEVER BACK DOWN to these d*rtbags. You may feel that you’re “taking the high road” but it just makes them attack harder.
It’s unfortunate that when a media person finally abandons the pernicious balance over objectivity standard that is skewing the presentation of news at the expense of truth, he quickly retreats.
Cooper wasn’t rude, he was merely assertive, calling bullshit on someone who was being disingenuous.
tRump and his supporters are easy pickins’ these days. The corporate media hasn’t figured out a way to help the RNC take down The Donald for them. One thing they all have on cable news shows now, is a free pass to do go after tRump even if they are openly supportive of helping to prop up other Republicans at the same time…and which I’ve seen plenty of already.
Honestly, I’m not very impressed with Cooper’s attack on this bonehead. He’s arguing with him over who has a bigger passport…which tells me Cooper is more concerned with making this story about himself, not going after the racist, anti-Muslim bigotry supported by tRump’s response per se. Even though he said that he was “appalled” by the audience member’s comments and tRump’s willingness to look into it, he didn’t actually call out tRump for being an overt bigot, which he should have imo. That would have taken true guts, which Cooper doesn’t seem to have.
Just an observation.
Lawrence ODonnell on his show questioned Tana Goertz, Trump’s Iowa chair about the same stuff and Trump’s own Birther investigation four year ago. If you recall, Trump claimed then his Hawaii investigators came up with some “really huge stuff”, but he never revealed what this was. Like Dean, Goertz danced around obvious questions “Why hasn’t Trump revealed what his investigators found”? She claimed she was never curious enough to ask Trump what they found and she “was sure” he’d reveal their findings “when the time is right.” She could not even confirm whether Trump does not believe Obama to be a Muslim who was born in Kenya.
So Trump is either a liar or crazy. Up to now I thought he was just a liar, but upon seeing his reaction to those crazy town hall questioners, I am not so sure.
I think I did say it was a bit condescending, and it did go off topic, but its not like the first time that has ever happened on CNN (missing airliner disappears into black hole?).
But to the point about Trump and his supporters being easy pickings…I said long ago, that the wheels will start getting wobbly on the Trump train as the campaign grew, and other people besides Trump started speaking to the media. I think that is what you are seeing here in this exchange, and I think you are going to see a lot more of it going forward.
