Discussion: Warren Said She Went To Trump's Inauguration To 'Burn It In' Her Eyes (VIDEO)

I appreciate the Senator’s sentiment but also have little doubt that she knows the woman’s march and similar protests will only stand as significant as #45 and the Republican’s victory if they result in a movement at least as potent as the Tea Party’s.

I hope that vision drives her to persist until, on prompting by the Chief Justice, she raises her right hand on Inauguration Day, 2020.

Agree with everything except the 2020 part. It’ll be January 2021 when she can be called madam President.

OT did you see the post at the end of our discussion of Trump’s nuke access that indicated he couldn’t launch the nukes? The source of the post looked very knowledgeable to me. I’ve got his post and can provide it.

I’m going to join the cynics’ circle @darcy has formed because if people don’t already know, she’s making the rounds promoting a book and will say all sorts of things in service to that book. The Democrat nominee for 2020 will be someone who we’re not even talking about now, but if I were being tortured, I’d have to say Adam Schiff.

I agree with everything except the Elizabeth Warren part.

What do you think of Gavin Newsom? That’s who Bill Maher likes for 2020.

I’m 100% here for a Newsom run.

Right. FWIW my assessment of Sen. Warren is that she sees herself in proper perspective, and knows that someone else would be more suitable–and electable–as President. To the extent that she is a conventional successful politician, she says this sort of thing to motivate her supporters. She doesn’t need motivation. The book is primarily to keep her in the public eye, not that the money isn’t appreciated.

I watched a couple of his speeches on YouTube after Maher mentioned him. I was pretty impressed.

I totally understand.

I go to Mar-a-Lago to eat, to actually reduce the nausea, dizziness, and bile I otherwise feel on a regular basis since Trump took office.

I’ll tell you somebody else I’ve got my eye on- Eric Swalwell. I like him a lot. Incredibly intelligent and not some piece of shit “liberal” who thinks minorities and women need to take a backseat to white economic anxiety.

Warren (like most Progressives) is completely BLIND to the FACT that people did not vote for Trump because of POLICES or because of ECONOMICS or even because of PERSONALITY.
They voted for him because it made them FEEL GOOD to do so.
It was purely an EMOTIONAL vote totally disconnected from any reality or consequences.
They feel “oppressed” and voted for the candidate who they thought “was one of them” and would “end the repression.”
Laughable I know, but that is not how THEY see it.
Sit down and actually talk (and by God SHUT UP and LISTEN) to a Trump supporter. You will be amazed at how they see the world, politics, race relations, foreign policy, everything.
It is a 180 degree opposite of everything you (think) you know.
They HATE anyone they see as having a better life than themselves.
They HATE being told they are stupid.
They HATE being told they are ignorant.
They HATE anyone with more education, more opportunity, more upward mobility, and less financial and emotional strain in their lives.
They FEAR financial ruin.
They FEAR anyone who is not “one of them.”
They FEAR being left behind in world they don’t understand and see no hope of a better life in.
Yes, it is “childish”. Yes, it is “immature”. Yes, it is “willfully ignorant” at times.
But it is THEIR LIFE as they see it. It is the only lens through which they see and experience the world.
Until you acknowledge that and at least ATTEMPT to understand them, you will never, ever, get any kind of support from them and face it. They are Americans TOO.
You cannot just say “Oh, they are racist assholes, fuck them. We don’t need them.”
That is the path to civil war.
You don’t have to agree with them, but you have to understand them.
You are not omnipotent. You don’t have all the answers. You DO NOT understand their lives. You have blinders on too.

It’s been Newsom’s dream to run for governor and win for a very long time. Right now he’s ahead of any other contenders, has raised more money than anyone so he’s looking good ahead of the 2018 election. I don’t believe I’ve heard him talk about running for president but I think most ambitious pols wake up, see themselves in a mirror, and say “Good morning, Mr. President.” Gavin’s a Californian through and through, both he and wife Jennifer were born in SF. they’re raising children in a Marin suburb, and it would probably cause a major hue and cry if he suggested he’s thinking about running because he’d have to start just as he became governor (if he does).
