Discussion: Warren Blasts 'Small, Insecure Money-Grubber' Donald Trump (VIDEO)

I bet if you Google “money grubbing Irsishman” or “money grubbing German,” or “money grubbing Trump” you’ll get a lot of hits, too.

What, exactly is your point?

I’m confident Hillary is on it. In fact, I think they released a campaign video with his recorded voice saying exactly that.

Not at all true. My point is self-evident.

Trump does not have small hands.

Trump has short fingers—a totally different thing.

That’s why Graydon Carter called him a short-fingered vulgarian.

And that’s a sobriquet we need to keep using, because it gets under Donald’s skin.

I love what she is doing but… A ton of people when in and bought real estate on the cheap after the meltdown. Hedge funds scooped up the most. But democrats were included. Full disclosure: If I had it together (the cash) I would have bought a discount house for a rental, too. I did not wish for a crash though…

That’s the difference, and a big one.

I googled it. After google recommended page after page of dictionary definitions, it offered pages of it referencing Jewish stereotype. After that, it went to a link where there is page after page of other stereotypes. In the stereotype department, Jewish came up first, but others were there as well.

edited for spelling. auto-correct sucks sometimes.

Well, I grew up around loads of Jewish folks. Not just my family and many of my friends, the overwhelming majority of the 2800 kids in my high school and of the people in the surrounding neighborhood.

I’ve heard a lot of triggers [antisemitic insinuations] involving money, but money-grubbing has never come up in that context. Yet you heard it used a lot in movies and so forth. So, no.

This would happen if they got smaller with each lie he has told and with each flip-flop he’s made lately: :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I know exactly where I heard it first: Mom. LOL, my Mom has a strong distaste for wealthy assholes … but, unfortunately for her–and us kids who paid any attention to her at the time–she almost always associated nearly anyone who had lots of money with being an asshole. She grew up dirt poor in Appalachia (western Maryland), no running water, outhouse, etc., immediately after the Depression, so her vantage point was very clouded. She realizes that now, but her earlier feelings did have some effect on us kids. Not once, though, did Jewish people ever enter the picture – anyone was fair game.

“Money-grubbing” and “money-grabbing” aren’t tied to any ethnic group. The term “money-grubbing” literally means obsessively searching for money to the exclusion of everything else. Trumps entire life demonstrates that Warren is spot on.

Interestingly it is thought that “money-grabber” is derived from the older “money-grubber.” It has a slightly different meaning but both are accurate in Trump’s case.

I bought distressed real estat after the crash. Thought “flipping” could be profitable…in the traditional way. Guess what? It wasn’t. A huge waste of my time and effort…no qualified buyers. When trump says he made dough, he is not referring to flipping houses per se, but making a killing in the second-mortgage market.
Like tony soprano. Real vultures…

This will be a very powerful line of attack against not just Trump but the entire Republican field.

Just contrast Trump’s 2006 comment with the aftermath of the Great Recession:

Almost 10 million people losing their jobs;
Five million Americans losing their homes to foreclosure;
The loss of $13 trillion in household wealth.

And throw in comments by other Republicans: Rep. Barton saying the job of Congress is to serve the banks. Former Rep. Phil Gramm, architect of the repeal of Glass-Steagall, calling senior citizens “whiners.”

And the general tenor of Republicans in the aftermath of the worst economic collapse of our lifetimes. Calling the unemployed “moochers” who only want free stuff.

Contrast Bernie’s polemics about the banks with Warren’s crisp lines about the successes of Dodd-Frank banking reform. This is how you do it, Bernie.

Right, and if you google ‘fried chicken black’ you’ll get a ton of racist hits. But if you google ‘fried chicken’ you’ll get KFC. Sen. Warren didn’t say anything about a “money grubbing Jew”, did she?

Here is Hillary’s ad using Donald actually saying that he could make a lot of money in a housing bubble burst.

You have done a lot of smart posts in your time. This isn’t one of them. I mean, seriously, this is just way the hell out there.

True. Look at what hedge fund managers are doing to Puerto Rico. How this is legal is beyond me.

And the American taxpayers are going to end up paying the bill. Gives you a warm and fuzzy feeling about hedge funds and their special tax rate doesn’t it.
