No. If you think he really had a choice you are wrong. He is military and if he said no his career was over because of trump. Since he said yes his career is over because of trump. This guy is a victim because of trump.
Theyâll gladly suffer and die in the comfort of their home for lack of health care coverage, so long as black people are suffering and dying in the squalor of the gutter.
If he had any integrity, he would have thanked Trump and turned it down, saying that there are more qualified people who can head the second largest bureaucracy in the U.S.
His only qualifications are that he flattered the obese, out-of-shape Trump with a clean bill of health and he looks good on TV; another Trump pick from âcentral castingâ. McMaster was a General out of central casting until he resisted Trumpâs nihilistic impulses and was replaced by Captain Kangarooâs evil twin.
This reminds me of Josh Marshallâs repeated insight last year: anyone who comes into contact with Trump is degraded or destroyed simply by being in Trumpâs erratic orbit. Shame on Jackson for even considering that he could be qualified for a staggering managerial job â the degradation is already under way. And BTW I am a vet very happy with the health care I get from VA â overall I think itâs better than any private plan I ever had.
Just before I tuned off the teevee this morning, I heard Mika say that Hillary didnât pay enough attention to the 18 million people who watch Roseanneâs new show, and the dems really have to do better.
SMH.
ETA: It was okay that Trump lied to his supporters, I suppose or told them what they wanted to hear (like someone else we know). She did point out that Trump wasnât really doing what he said he would. Some still support him. Hard to reach people like that.
The base is OK with Trumpism taking important things away from them as long as Democrats are portrayed as the party who will take their guns.
Doctor, heal thyself.
Are we 100% sure the Rosanne reboot is not subsidized by Russian oligarchs or the Mercers? What about Morning Joe?
The exit polling from last yearâs elections doesnât back that up, however. Nor does Trumpâs approval rating, which took the biggest hit when Congress was trying to repeal ACA. Which was also about that time that Obamacare suddenly flipped to more people supporting it than opposing it.
And when premiums jump 20% this fall, those people suddenly wonât give a damn about where the black people are living or dyingâŚthey are going to be completely consumed with how THEY are being hurt.
At which point the 40% weâre talking about will be duped into believing their healthcare and insurance woes are the fault of Democrats and Obama.
Donât know. Donât care. Lost interest in that show before it ended, and although I like John Goodman and Laurie Metcalf, I wonât be tuning in now.
Also, I think it was a nice marketing strategy for her to support Trump and then move forward with a show in which she supposedly represents his voters. Doesnât hurt her bottom line, does it.
Itâs scary (but what isnât in this administration), but I think itâs possible that Jackson never actually agreed to the job.
The Post article says 1) Jackson was taken aback by the nomination and hesitant, but 2) Trump said he was his number one pick, and 3) staff thought that Trump would announce Shulkin stepping down and interim director stepping up, but Trump surprised them with the announcement about Jackson. I can actually imagine Jackson having said no, or as close to it as a military man gets particularly with such a blatantly unsuitable position, Trumpâs staff transmitting that to Trump, and Trump not hearing or not accepting that and just making the announcement. Then the staff has to cover and say Jackson was âhesitantâ instead of that he said no.
Maybe (hopefully? although who knows who would be up next) in a few days Jackson will say, âIâm deeply honored, however, recent events in my personal life have forced me to take myself out of consideration.â
Iâm sure that any prospective physician will be thoroughly briefed on what he has to say. Have you ever talked to any of the people who turned down jobs during the transition? And people know even better now.
I agree with importance of veterans but trump is not going to put anyone in at the VA that isnât going to do damage or privatize, etc. He just wonât.
And we can make good arguments that trumpist policies on health care have hurt trump country, that seems to be already be working, but environmentâŚnahâŚthat wonât happen anywhere in trump world, neither will business regulation unless all regulations are given the boot, and trade may take too long for them to feel it. Tick toc we are racing the clock here.
Look at WV, they will probably vote for Blankenship for Senator. There is no state that I can think of that has sold its soul to the company store more than W VA. For generations now. And education there, as weâve seen with teacherâs strike, is not valued in state government or the people who vote for their representatives.
As much as Iâd like to convince trumplandia of how they are hurting themselves, they will never listen. Never. Stubborn like nothing else and will dig their heels in and plug their ears if you try to explain anything to them. We can keep trying and I suppose we should, but for now the most important thing is to crush them at the polls and hope that we make it past voter suppression and election tampering. We can help them out later, but for now, crushing them at the polls is the only way I see the salvation of the country. These people really donât understand the long term damage of trump, all they care about, and this is no shit, is that trump pisses off Liberals and that makes them happy. Canât fix that right now.
I try to be hopeful but losing my patience.
We just need changes at the margins. Actually, all we really need to do is get back to the average Democratic vote share in red America pre-2016 or Pre-Obama. We saw that in PA-18, where Lamb got to the average Dem percentage in the last several statewide races pre-2016. That, combined with Dem improvement in the suburbs (from 0/-1 to +14) is how we won that district.
I know if you donât stand up and clap wildly as they parade several of them on the floor of an NBA game venue youâll get some dirty looks. And boy do they trot them out. Pre-game, Pledge, halftime, commercial breaks, timeouts. They wander the concourse, due deferrence and nods of honor expected. Theyâre everywhere. Militaristic nationalism gone wild. After getting your ticket scanned you proceed to think youâve wandered into the filming of a recruitment commercial.
Yep. It blows my mind heâd even consider swapping that out for the nightmarish, totally thankless assignment of running the VA. Right now he can retire with an excellent pension and the respect of his colleagues. It canât have escaped his notice how brutally trump appointees are treated. Itâs NOT a step up, doc. Just say no.
The Emancipation Proclamation was an Executive Order.
Jackson didnât hesitate nearly enough.
Personally I think that Shulkin was set up. The travel people at the VA know perfectly well that wives donât get travel arranged by or paid by the government. Heck, they wonât even tell wives who are paying their own way what flight they will book the husband on so she can buy a ticket on the same flight. And $4300+ for the wifeâs flight? The VA never gets deals that bad. I think the scandal was arranged to get rid of Shulkin. Someone paid off the employees who did it.
