Discussion: WaPo: White House Doctor Hesitated To Take On Job As Head Of VA

And he gets his retirement papers fixed first.

Meh. So was Ben Carson. He took the HUD job anyway, because he’s a dope.

Yes, but we’ve seen how easy it is to blame that on Obama. I know, I know, it doesn’t make sense. It never had to. All the righties have to do is start tossing out chum to the rabid masses, naming their list of the usual suspects, and blame is instantly diverted to the Democrats.

Did anyone else find the title confusing, starting with the tense? So he hesitated, but is no longer hesitating? Has he now accepted the job? Is Trump making the Admiral walk the plank, or can he decline?

In addition, I think we settled this whole “I was only following orders” business some time ago. (Not intended as a “Godwin” comparison.)

The problem here is that the nomination will sail through. Unlike virtually all Trump nominees, this guy has a clean background, a distinguished service record, and is apparently a damn good GP (except when examining Trump, and even then he’s killed the “incompetent to stand trial” defense). That these skills, which he should be proud of, nonetheless do not in any way tell him how to run a $200 billion health care delivery system, will not be material and all the “bipartisan” Democrats will jump on board along with the Republicans acting in North Korean style, I mean Republican style, lockstep.

I actually enjoyed the original Rosanne show. Rosanne had a unique stand-up routine and has amazingly great comic timing with funny one-liners. The last few seasons really went off the rails, though, and I stopped watching. She married Tom Arnold and gave him a role in the show, then divorced him. She had her character win the lottery, and it just got stupid. John Goodman apparently got pretty aggravated, but stuck it out to the end. I am somewhat surprised to see Goodman, Metcalf and Sara Gilbert rejoin the cast.

I’ve also read that Rosanne has been quite open about her tumultuous past - childhood sexual abuse, traumatic brain injury, mental illness with a diagnosis of bipolar disease, and then her descent from liberalism into trumpism. How much of it is bullshit? Can’t say. Anyway, I have no interest in the reboot.

It wouldn’t be the first time trump publicly proclaimed a surprise appointment that never panned out (cough diGenova cough).

Why in the world did this guy accept? This is not a job he is in any way qualified for and if he is smart and wise he should know that. Something is waaaay off about this

And if he was willing to LIE on Trump’s physical, you know he is willing to lie for whatever else Trump asks, in terms of VA policy or WH covering Trump’s Ass public relations operations.

Why take the risk that another doctor wouldn’t be so, um, accommodating when physical time rolls around next year? Jackson can keep his current role too. Really, heading the vast bureaucracy of the VA can’t be that difficult. Just fire a bunch of upper management and threaten the rest. They’ll fall in line, just see.

He probably knows a lot, and not just about the size of Trump’s prostrate.

Who wouldn’t want a doctor that tells you you’re not obese at 239 lbs because you’ve grown an inch in recent years.

O please - first you let him write his own medical evaluation and you delivered it and now you want us to believe you hesitated?

Sure you did, Dr. Ronny Ronnie.

Dr. Jackson seems like a decent fellow. He should run, not walk, away from the VA job. He will destroy his reputation working for Trump and his crooked cadre. It’s just not worth it.

Save yourself, Dr. Jackson. It isn’t too late.

We watched about 5 minutes of it and I left. It’s lousy and forced and it won’t last. None of the cast is comfortable.

They need someone with zero management experience so privatization of the VA can continue apace. Profits over vets. Pretty simple, really.

There hasn’t really been a successful VA administrator in years, but is Ronny Jackson going to be our last hope that the VA continues as a non-profit medical provider or do we watch its descent into a profit making arm of Koch Industries.

Watch Laurie Metcalf in Lady Bird, to see what she’s really capable of as an actress, and Saoirse Ronan is wonderful as well…

That’s the Hillbilly Elegy whine. People who hate government because they think they’ll lose their freedom turn against it and yet should be listened to by serious pols on the advice of an unserious TV talker.
