Discussion: WaPo: Undocumented Workers Are Building Trump's Fancy New D.C. Hotel

Discussion for article #238192

My bet is on the fact that there must be a significant percentage of workers in the kitchens of the various Trump facilities that are undocumented. At the very least, many must come from Mexico or Central America, even if legally. And yet, Trump continues his racist harangues.

I wonder, what is the likelihood of phlegm ending up in one of his meals?

DON’T ARREST THE RAPISTS!!! until they’ve finished the job.

The only surprise was that it took this long to find undocumented workers at Trump facilities. And the “it’s all the contractor’s fault” is blatant b.s. Trump claims to be a great leader, but the buck doesn’t stop with him?

Of course there are, because the workers are a cop out and a distraction. American businessmen decide who to hire and how much to pay them.

Obviously The Rump didn’t want everyone reminded of this plain fact right now. Too bad, and thanks, WaPo!

“The obligation to check all workers on site is exclusive to Lend Lease,” he told the Post.

Completely missing the point, which is that Trump’s empire is literally being built by illegal immigrants. If it weren’t for them, there would be no Trump empire.

Convenient bankruptcy was the other point that TRump’s empire was built on.

He’s paranoid enough to probably have food-tasters…

This is the whole 1%, corporate, “you people” “47%” story and plan. They want to bring back slavery, look at all of the articles and comments about how much better people were under slavery. They ship the jobs out of country because it makes more money, but also gives them the satisfaction to know that, if not in this country yet, in other countries they do hold slaves in the factories and fields. I would stake my new shoes that there is a good deal of that whole “sex trade” to be found in the financier of Israel and several candidates casinos. Sheldon Adelson rolls in the money made off of vice, addictions and taking advantage of the weak, then he launders the money back into conservative “good causes” in this country and Israel.

A spokeswoman for the Trump Organization told the newspaper in a statement that contractors who work with the company “are required to have prospective employees produce documentation that establishes identity and employment eligibility in compliance with immigration law.”

You really want that happening, Trump people–or any other employer, for that matter–then you will be ponying up quite a bit more in actual labor and labor-related costs (you know, like unemployment insurance and workers’ comp, etc.) … but you already knew that, right?

I like it when these greedy little grubs expose themselves.

One day Trump’s fully leveraged “empire” will crumble. My only concern is if there will be enough pop corn to enjoy it.

Under the universal fairness doctrine all people regardless of economic status who disrespect food workers are entitled to floogie sauce and other special treats with their meals. I would not want to eat in the same restaurant with Trump, much less share his table.

Well…okay…sure…but it’s only the classy ones.

I was wondering how long it would take someone to figure this out and report it!!

If he can’t track down illegal immigrants on his own property, how can he defeat ISIS?

I’m hoping it’s sometime between March and August 2016.
