Nice career, It’d be a shame if anything happened to it.
Too bad , by association with and being a part of this lie factory , your career is esentially over
The Trump Stink will never wash off.
If you had done what you should have like Archibald Cox , you might have saved yourself .
Off topic but related. Came across this while perusing this morning
Is it any wonder half the country is ill informed and crazy?
But you didn’t actually quit did you? Mighty big of you, asshole.
Nazi’s scapegoated this guy? No way.
But…he didn’t.
For all we know, Sessions and Trump lied to Rosenstein about the purpose of the memo.
I’m not ready to judge Rosenstein yet. I don’t believe someone with such a record of public service is corrupt—and even if he is corrupt, to some degree, not enough for Trump.
This guy is no Giuliani, no Christie, no McGahn.
I think this is probably true. I think he thought Comey should have gone last year. I think he believes what he wrote and I think he was set up. But then he stayed. None of this is classified. He could have made his positions clear and walked, saving his reputation. He wouldn’t have been jobless. Now, he’s screwed himself.
Yes someone on TPM suggested when it happened that R’s memo does not read like it was written for the purpose DJT used it for, or was written much earlier. I re-read his memo with that in mind and I have to agree. I think this stinks.
You’d think such an experienced prosecutor wouldn’t get rolled so easily.
Regrets? So soon?
It (his threat to resign - and make the WH look even worse) does explain some of Sanders meandering/contradictory/ever-changing explanations.
Was there no date on Rosenstein’s memo?
OT, but mental coffee:
If Trump really wanted to stop leaks coming from within his own staff, there’s no doubt he could stop it (you know, with his great business skills, big brain, and best people). However, he only wants to put a stop to leaks that are damaging to him. Something tells me Trump is the biggest (only?) culprit when it comes to leaks that place him in a favorable light.
The King has chosen you, citizen, to persist His Majesty’s lie.
Here. Take this sword. We insist.
#NeverTrumpsFault
I also think that, if what @centralasiaexpat said is true (and it may well be true), he is incredibly naive for someone in the position he assumes. Those two assholes were openly thrilled and giddy when Comey sent that letter, praising Comey for it and insisting they would lock up Hillary for her emails. Now those same guys told him to write a memo about how horrible what Comey had done was. And it was abundantly clear those same guys had every reason to fire Comey given the situation – Comey requested Rosenstein for more resources for the investigations right before. And this possibility that his memo could be used to justify the firing never crossed his mind?
We knew that Trump wanted a pretext all along, but one wonders what made him threaten and then succumb.
While I grant that you may be right, I can’t seem to figure out what the lie might have been when Rosenstein was asked to outline all of Comey’s “sins” against the Agency that he wouldn’t have smelled what was behind it. The guy is not stupid.
By not quitting, he has the power to appoint a special prosecutor. I’ll reserve judgement for a few days.
There’s no “gray area” here; Rosey should have gone public with his outrage at being implicated in this crime. He should have held a press conference, announced that Trump lied about him (and his role in Comey’s firing), then resigned. There’s essentially nothing Trump does that’s deemed bad enough for the GOP or the DOJ to put a stop to Trump’s crimes. There are no cops on the beat and Trump knows it. During the campaign, Trump arrogantly bragged that he could shoot someone on 5th Avenue and he’d still get all the votes he expected. What a pile of demon dung. He can’t be impeached fast enough.
Makes you wonder what “secrets” Donnie has about the deputy AG to keep him “on the team”.
Coercion. It’s the Donnie Way.
Oh, give him a break. They’re probably in the same fraternity and he thought, “brothers”.
