According to FEC filings, Walmart gave $2,000 to Hyde-Smith on Monday, November 18. Her joke about a public lynching went viral about a week before that. Her second major gaffe, concerning liberal voter disenfranchisement, became common knowledge about two days before Walmart’s donation.

In other words, “Gee, we sure are sorry you caught us being racist assholes.” Fuck Walmart…

If you shunned at a Golden Corral on Sunday morning after church in Alabama, well then,
God does hate you.

ETA: it’s hard to believe - after seeing her response to what she said - that she is that stupid.

Ha ha now that’s funny. When I need to understand why America didn’t vote in sufficient numbers to make Hillary Clinton president, why it wasn’t obvious they should do that, I go to Walmart and look around. I’m not saying the people there look stupid, I hasten to add. I’m saying I went there on an errand about four days after the election, and looking around I realized with more than a pang of regret that Clinton, for all her modest upbringing, has always lived in a realm of existence that might as well be on another planet as far as those people around me were concerned. They had always been working-class, and always would be, and the aspirations Clinton had for them weren’t something they could see or believe in themselves.

So. Anyway. Yeah, this isn’t good for a GOP person. Heh.

They gave her the money after this?

You know what would be hilarious? Christian fundagelical leaders calling for a boycott of WalMart. Talk about your cognitive dissonance.

The old Sambos chain restaurant is still contemplating whether to pull their support.

Walmart the company that screws it’s suppliers to get their prices as low as possible and pays and treats their employees badly and puts local small business out of business. I’m proud to say I’ve never been in one and won’t.

“Sen. Hyde-Smith’s recent comments clearly do not reflect the values of our company and associates.” Just those of the Walton family.

Cracker Barrel – just half a step further and we’d have a restaurant chain called “Deplorables Basket.”

My question: Why in the fuck is Walmart supporting ANY Republican these days? Walmart–and all companies considering donating to political campaigns–would do themselves a major favor if they had their public relations and donations folks read TPM for a few months. They just might learn a thing or two about how the Republicans have really been conducting “the peoples’ business.” They just might learn that they are supporting voter suppression and gerrymandering.

Come on, Walmart–and all you others–if you’re giving today’s conservatives money, you’re helping to fund outright theft of Supreme Court (and other judicial) seats. Do you really wish to be associated with this? I guarantee you that sooner than later, the public at-large will be learning which corporations support fascism. Hint: If you’re supporting a Republican, you are supporting fascism either directly (Trump, McConnell, Scott among others) or indirectly (all other Republicans). Where do you stand?
