Discussion: Walmart Rescinds Support Of Sen. Hyde-Smith, Requests Contribution Refund

Not really. They’re proud of their racism. It’s not hidden or masked.

When you’ve lost Walmart…

I’m confused. Did Walmart donate in violation of Federal law to a canadiate? It seems the demand for refund is coming from Walmart (their Twitter). Or did Walmart PAC contribute? If the PAC contributed, why does Walmart get to demabd its money back? Seems like an awful lot of taking and putting hats back on. One might even ask if this is coordination?

Yes. Clinton was just to high and mighty. She flashed too many gold plated chairs, gaudy apholstry, and flew around in Clinton Force One. It’s great knowing that her opponent on the Republican side was a regular old Robin hood man of the people.

As a result, we are withdrawing our support and requesting a refund of all campaign donations.

Are you requesting your refund within 30 days of purchase? Do you have the receipt? Is your Senator still in its original packaging? We can only refund your purchase with a GOP gift card. Thank you for shopping the GOP, have a white day!

Um, are you sure you didn’t mean GOP grift card?

OK I’m mildly curious—are you pointing out a general irony, or are you also giving me a hard time because you think I failed to see it myself? I assure you that’s not the case. To respond to your own point, though: Clinton is a real member of the elite, unchallenged, no question about it. She went to the best schools and actually learned something in them, and she and her boyfriend having both done that became extremely successful and influential, welcome wherever they went. She could talk about retraining people to install solar panels, but the out-of-work coal miners weren’t hearing it. They just couldn’t relate to her. Trump, on the other hand, inherited money, is a lifelong vulgarian and clod, failed at everything he did but pretending to be successful, and was always, always, always viewed as an arriviste by the Manhattan elites. He lives comfortably, but he’s sullen and resentful, and in every way that matters has the outlook of a small-minded sorehead on a barstool in a one-stoplight town. He could easily pretend to relate to the victims of the post-industrial world, because grievance and resentment come naturally to him. I think that all goes without saying, but there I said it. Bueno?

No lynchings please, thanks and can we have our money back?

“According to FEC filings, Walmart gave $2,000 to Hyde-Smith on Monday, November 18. Her joke about a public lynching went viral about a week before that. Her second major gaffe, concerning liberal voter disenfranchisement, became common knowledge about two days before Walmart’s donation.”

So It looks like Walmart Knew of the gaffe and sent the money anyway,…
Well…that Walmart sent this lady a contribution in the first place is plenty of sufficient reason to never do business with Walmart as far as I can see. Which is OK since I shop elsewhere anyway.
edit to add…
So was this contribution corporate or was it from a regional franchise?

Now have we stooped so low that we bash people for shopping at Wal-Mart? What is next? What car do you drive, where do you buy your gas, who provides your prescriptions, what airline do you use, what clothes do you wear, where do you live, married, single, male, female, gay, straight, have pets?

Never been inside a Walmart. Have a nephew that’s worked there 17 years. It’s good for him, he’s on the autism scale. Stocked shelves the whole time, doesn’t make much more than when he started. I guess the company fills a niche, both for some shoppers and some workers. Just too many stories about them shorting people on hours to get out of paying benefits to suit my taste, along with a lot of stuff from the past about discrimination in promotions for women and minorities.

Walmart’s evolving or evolved? Doubtful…

One thing is for sure, fate’s about to throw a bunch of Whoop-Ass canisters in all directions - as America comes to term with Trumps maladministration.

You are right. I’m in Cortez, CO where Wal-Mart destroyed many local businesses. They do this worldwide with impunity. Do not let Wal-Mart anywhere near your town. If your mayor thinks it’s a good idea, get rid of that mayor today. Cortez is a remote town of maybe 11,000, the entire county only 25K. We needed those local businesses for the families sustenance. Wal-Mart can and does destroy small towns if they are allowed in.

So this is what it has come to. A rapacious corporate behemoth has more shame than one of our two major political parties.
