Discussion: Walker Won't Call For Criminal Investigation Into State Loan To Donor's Business

Discussion for article #236879

The circle is getting smaller and smaller for Scott. At some point, his own party will turn on him. The opposition is probably holding fire for just the right time letting him simmer in Wisconsin for a while.

Scott would prolly mistake that for a gesture of obeisance.

Organizations like this are nothing more than a method of dumping tax dollars into slush funds to reward political allies. Good old fashioned cronyism.

…but for some reason this is totally what is going to sink Walker. Because…clicks?

Before: Critics point out that Walker is corrupt, that the WEDC is a failure in terms of job creation and economic development, but a great scheme to funnel unaccountable tax dollars to Walker’s donors. The media reports that it’s too early to make that claim and that people need to give Walker and the WEDC the benefit of the doubt until they have a chance to prove themselves and work out the kinks.

Now: It’s obvious that Walker is corrupt and that the WEDC is a failure and likely criminal. The media reports that this stuff has already been reported and Walker has clearly gotten away with it so it no longer matters.

I think your comment is a helpful reminder of exactly what is going on here and why Walker has yet to actually face repercussions for his actions.

Seriously, as someone paying attention to this story, is it your concern that Walker is corrupt and is screwing over Wisconsin, or would you rather just snark about the fact that raising concern about Walker’s corruption is just “false hope”?

We can do better as both activists and commenters. Please.

ETA: Forget it. Wisconsin has gotten hopelessly stupid since I left. The fact that some people are convinced that THIS one is totally going to do Walker in are just delusional.

But I’m sure none of this stuff was known before Walker won his recall. Or his reelection.

TPM:

As TPM noted, Walker has been getting strong criticism for the WEDC which Walker created as a key pillar of his job creation plan.

I’m assuming job creation plan is the new euphemism for campaign donation kickbacks?

Out of the frying pan and into the fire, eh?

Yeah, small wonder Dorothy became a ranting drunk.

Wisconsin needs to hire and pay one of Walker’s high school buddies to investigate the problem and to demonstrate that Scott is as innocent as Chris always was.
