Discussion: Waaaa! After VP Debate, GOPers Weep That Pence Isn't The Top Of The Ticket

Unfortunately, democrats seem to be more susceptible to the apathy virus. Fear is always a terrible motivator for republicants.

unfortunately that’s true.

This clearly will be a case where liberals think that Kaine beat Pence and conservatives think Pence beat Kaine.

For instance, Josh Marshall commented frequently that Kaine was getting in good punches about Trump’s positions that Pence didn’t even try to defend. But conservatives saw something completely different on this very point: Kaine tried to bait Pence, but Pence outsmarted Kaine by refusing to take the bait.

Looking at some a reddit thread where the debate was being discussed, things were pretty evenly split between obviously Kaine beat Pence, and obviously Pence beat Kaine.

There you go @inversion… set up that Cafe Press (or whatever’s hot right now) immediately!

unless you are Trump, then that outcome is not a bad thing. It was clear that Pence had to stop an inevitable moment from occurring and ta-da…

However in doing so, Pence created a sense of ā€˜buyers remorse’ that could expand should Trump do Trump next week

expert politicians know where those moments often lead to.

And to think, a few months ago, the GOP was sad Pence was running for reelection.

I have no clue. That was the thing last year… but I’m always behind.

When Mike Pence is the pick of the litter, the GOP is in deep doo-doo.

This is definitely another bear trap that Hillary can set at the next debate and Trump will walk right into it.

Trump would be distracted by shiny objects no later than six hours after the inaugural ball; I think you’re on to it.

I think the Democrats out to make sure to praise Pence’s performance relative to Trump’s, then criticize his positions. HO will not appreciate this.

Mike Pence is deaf.

Like many Republicans these days, he hears what he wants to hear. He can’t hear how unfit Donald Trump is to serve as president. He is deaf to what Donald Trump says and intends. Like many major Republican politicians, he can’t hear the poor, he can’t hear veterans, he can’t hear college students, he can’t hear women, he can’t hear the workers hurt by Trump’s games. I know people who really are deaf who hear better than Mike Pence.

To be honest, I got a bit turned off by Kaine’s jumping all over Pence’s comments. I got it that he was supposed to play attack dog, but it came off as being tacky. He could have waited and let him finish then run him to ground.

When they go low, we go high. Just grateful this is the only one.

Dear, TPM:

So, nothing about Mike Pence saying ***ā€œwhipping out that Mexican thing againā€***?.. Social Media is going crazy with this. That was the Latino vote, right there, yet MSNBC & CNN have dismissed it by saying his statement/outburst wasn’t a big deal, now TPM has completely disregarded it.

Of all the cherry picking you missed the biggest bit and now Media is saying Pence won. What a crock.

Kilgore, Josh just wrote a piece specifically on this part of the debate. Sarcasm, perhaps?
