Virginia GOP Inviting Fairfax Accusers To Testify

I’m all for a complete investigation and shining a light onto the truth, but knowing what has flown out of many a GOPer’s closest over the past few decades, are they really sure that they want to go there?

Republicans, I fully agree! We’ll start with the many accusations and settlements from Individual #1 and work down from him.

Bi-partisan stupidity.

The Republicans are stupid for this stunt, which is obvious and will do nothing to help them or the Commonwealth.

And Democrats are stupid for resisting an investigation. They should bite the bullet and investigate in as fair and impartial a manner as is humanly possible. They should show voters that Democrats really are better than Republicans.

Trump, Kavanaugh, Jim Jordan, Epstein, among others, must be thrilled by this news. Republicans always count on Democrats to not be the flamethrowers they are.

I agree that this should be fully investigated, but shouldn’t that be in an impartial setting, like a court of law where alleged violations of criminal statutes are adjudicated? Republicans will make a mockery of finding the truth, and ultimately, any hearings they hold won’t be fair to either party.

Democrates are not resisting a full investigation just a Republician witch hunt…

Then they need to double down on this and trumpet it to the rooftops.

Fairfax actually has. He’s called for law enforcement, up to and including the FBI, to investigate.

And especially with Ms. Watson (the 2000 case), an independent investigation is an absolute must. She says she has witnesses who she reported it to at the time. Unless they’re also willing to come and testify in the VA Senate, then someone needs to interview and cross-examine them in some other forum.

The partisan fear here is that there’s just going to be a show trial, Kavanaugh-lite, without any real effort to get to establishing credibility beyond what they sound like in the Senate.

…and Trump invited Bill Clinton’s accusers to rant against HILLARY…they are scumsucking bottomfeeders. I don’t know why they feel the need to emulate the WORST of their party…

In this case, the GrOPers are going to go Kavanaugh-heavy, pulling in every witness they can conceivably round up, from the maintenance guys who saw Fairfax’s room in college to the maid who cleaned his room in Boston. The Dems will rightly support a thorough impartial investigation and the GrOPers will claim that they are obstructing. Compare that to the list of what, 6 people the FBI was allowed to interview in Kavanaugh’s case because the GrOPers didn’t want to find out what was in his closet.

Hypocrisy at its finest.

The Democratic position of #believewoman and #54yearoldaccusationsarecredible is stupid and untenable. It is impossible to function if an accusation against anyone from anytime in the past is given credibility. The entire Kavanaugh circus was a witchhunt by Dems, and was totally unfair. They couldn’t touch him professionally, so they decided to use underhanded slur tactics. Now Dems will pay the price, plus they have weaponized these criticisms. The weaponization of ancient grievances can cut against anyone. We are seeing that now.

This is a period of transition. It’s going to be painful for a lot of parties until the change is fully internalized and accepted by society. Women (and men) have been suffering these kinds of abuse for decades (centuries) with no safe, legal recourse and so they felt they had to bottle them up and try to “get past” them without reporting them to the authorities (who were often complicit).

Now that people are paying more attention, we should hopefully start to get these allegations treated seriously as they occur, rather than having to adjudicate them years and decades after the fact. In the meantime, we still have to try to accommodate the people whose lives were disrupted years ago because they deserve justice just as much. Justice has been denied for them for so long and we need to find a way to serve them and deal with this decades-long backlog that we are just beginning to acknowledge exists.

Justice will always be denied if you do not go to the police and get a rape kit done. This is not a problem of “justice denied”. This is a problem of “it wasn’t rape in 2004, but it’s rape in 2019 to a bunch of morons”. It’s a matter of “retrospective re-evaluation and redefinition”. If women want “sexual assault” to be considered a problem, go to the cops in a timely manner. Because if you don’t, it’s not a problem.

The way despicable republicans pay women hush money to keep sexual infidelity quiet, they also pay women to level false charges against Democrats. It wouldn’t be surprising to find out the republicans paid these women to fabricate stories about Fairfax and take it all the way to an ugly, lying finish. The world of republican politics is so depraved, unethical and racist that anything is plausible when it comes to framing/defaming Democrats.

Well. As long as he really, really likes beer he’ll be fine.

Wrong. I agree rape accusations must be timely for evidence collection otherwise the case may be questionable. But Kavanaugh was not a witch hunt. He’s a liar. He lied to get an earlier job and he lied to get this job. His lies are thoroughly documented. Why do you want someone who lied to get the job in a position to make decisions about right and wrong? He doesn’t have the temperament to be a judge based on his performance but as long as he’s a republican it’s okay?

He will be impeached in 2022.

Whatever price the Dems pay, for whatever you think they’ll pay for, will pale in comparison to the price Republicans will pay for their bad behavior and flawed policies over the last 40 years. We are seeing that now.

And by the way - regarding the stupid and untenable #54yearoldaccusationsarecredible - do you feel the same way about chlidren abused by priests or just women?

Your position is stupid and untenable.
