“What is your major malfunction numbnuts?”
Gunnery Sergeant Hartman
Whoever’s going to be the next speaker should not appease this group of rejectionists who have no interest in governing.
Maybe, if we’re lucky, we’ll start to see the marginalization of the crazies. There must be quite a few more GOP House members who are disgusted by this.
“The challenge for our conference is quite simple. That we need to assemble bipartisan coalitions to pass any important legislation around here,” Dent continued. “Whoever’s going to be the next speaker should not appease this group of rejectionists who have no interest in governing.”
Yes. Now: to get a bipartisan coalition to vote for a Speaker of the House.
Tell 'em, Charlie!!
Shame those fascists!!
Or even a partisan one for that matter.
Remember when the Republicans marched in lockstep? Now they’re fragmented and I blame/thank FOX news and am radio BS.

GOP is no longer a political party - it is a cult.

“moderate republican”…lol…don’t make me laugh. He’s voted in lockstep with the nutjobs, he’s one of them.

Then change parties, shitbird.
Teabaggers will not be ignored!
If you listen to the interview, he said that was a very real possibility. He also suggested an “interim” Speaker to get through the year.
What a freaking mess. When House members are suggesting a “Continuing Resolution” Speaker. I just have to shake my head.
I’m sure there are others in the GOP suitably hungria for power.
If he thinks he can find 100 Republicans to support such a notion, go for it.
We won’t hold our breath.
Let’s hope for bipartisan leadership… It would be historic and perhaps break some of the deadlock
Dent is a remnant of a nearly extinct species, a long-serving Republican in a Democratic-majority district. And even at that, his deviations from the hard right voting line are few.
Barring the living fossils like Dent, Every Republican in Congress is one or more of three things: crazy, malevolent or pants-pooping scared. The only sane ones are in the pants-pooping afraid category and spend all their time pretending to be crazy or malevolent.
They’re getting close to rock bottom, but I don’t think the GOP is there yet.
This development eloquently sums up the problem with the Republicans and their inability to govern. They are stuck with that stupid unwritten rule that if a majority of unless they have a majority of Republicans (exclusively) within their conference who either votes against or abstains about anything, then it is not passed unless that faction is appeased. I believe that this is exactly why Boehner quit. They will not use on using any Democratic House members votes to get their majority.
If the Democratic Party doesn’t use this cluster***k to take back control of Congress, then it doesn’t deserve a majority in either house of Congress ever again.
Oh, the humanity!!
the crazies will keep returning to Congress so long as the extreme gerrymandering of House districts remains in place. Their ridiculous antics will do little to nothing to dissuade their base voters from voting for them, even though they have perfectly displayed the utter incompetence of the hard-right GOP at actual governing.
They represent a primal scream from Idiot-Americans over the results of the last two presidential elections (as well as the bitterness over the complete failure of the Cheney-Bush regime as well as the utter rejection of it by the vast majority of Americans). Screaming and throwing tantrums is about as useful as prayer when it comes to governing.
