Thus keeping them out of the country and out of the reach of Mueller… convenient.

BFD. Sanction the fucking nation that was and is still responsible.

But Trump has insisted on multiple occasions that the Russkies didn’t interfere with the election… How then is he allowing sanctions on 19 clearly innocent people? SAD!

The Trump administration is imposing sanctions on 19 Russians for alleged interference in the 2016 U.S. election, including 13 indicted by special counsel Robert Mueller.

So basically the 6 that haven’t been indicted yet. Great, just great. Don’t work too hard, MFers. You might bust a blood vessel in your brain.

This is the kind of story where a little context and expert commentary might be helpful. But it’s AP so—you know.

Uh oh, better have a test taster for that lunchtime whopper, Don.

Russia’s behavior finally reached the point where Trump’s enablers couldn’t ignore it anymore. Not just the “f*** you, we can kill whoever we want, wherever we want,” but also the massive hacking of critical infrastructure in the U.K. and here.

Trump must be terrified that Putin won’t understand he was forced to do it. Don Jr must be calling his friends in Moscow desperately trying to explain that Daddy will make the sanctions go away as soon as the heat is off.

I look forward to an analysis of the 19. I recall that the first “list” that came from Treasury was a cut and paste job from something like a Forbes list of wealthiest Russians, and not anything that looked intentional (as in connections with the crimes), or serious. Is this different - or is it those listed on Muellers indictment with the other 6 people included from the top of the original (non serious) list?

When do these go into effect?

More information, please (I know, I am impatient.)

[/quote]Will Trump personally say anything about the sanctions? Will he personally make a “strong” statement about the “strong” move he himself is putting on Russia? Or will he leave it to his aides or a written WH statement while he basically ignores or even downplays it?

Oh, so these aren’t the ones that Congress voted for. This was done by the Treasury Dept. Hmmm.

Makes Trump look even worse.

Selective Sanctioning.

Watch how they skirt around this when asked by the press. Donnie will throw out something about supporting the UK, and never mention Putie’s name.

Yeah, right? I mean, don’t get me wrong, I’m glad we got the IT department on the no-fly list, but how about the sanctions Congress passed that actually get at the people who need access to the US to do their evil business?

I’m sure it will be one of his classic “or whoever” evasions.

At least 13 of them are definitely not on the Treasury’s list (the draft or the Forbes copy) because they’re agents of the Internet Research Group, basically Russia’s troll farm. It’s like going after the people in Deustchebank that use the computers that make the transactions for money laundering.

And how long will it be til he tweets or utters something that is completely contradictory to the policy - sowing even more confusion?
