I understand the suspension of his campaign is a very decent thing for Cunningham to do, but I hope he realizes this woman isn’t going to be back to campaigning anytime soon, so is he going to hang fire indefinitely? A two week stay in a hospital in the healthcare environment we’re in indicates serious injury. And more procedures to come? Good night Irene.

I know she is a Republican with a history in the defense industry, but our prayers for a speedy recovery go out to her.
If it’s as bad as it sounds, she may be in various kinds of therapy for months. I don’t see how you could run for Congress under the circumstances. But how they’d handle her dropping out, I have no idea. Maybe Sanford will be back in after all.
Life is fragile, even for those born into the best of circumstances. It’s why I am a progressive. My heartfelt wishes to her for a speedy and full recovery.

Now that he has been gracious and suspended his campaign he can go home and quietly work the phones, he will need money to recover from the suspension. Then he should go to as many churches as will admit him and pray for her recovery but mention that God’s will is clear - God does not like Trump.

You mean you can’t campaign without ripping into your opponent? Yes, I know, this is what America is today. Campaigns are all about attacking your opponent and rarely about talking about the issues you support.
How about this, you continue campaigning, and just suspend all criticism of your opponent. Talk about the issues exclusively–what you are going to do. Instead of being critical of your opponent, wish her the best, a speedy recovery, and thoughts and prayers. If you mention her at all, mention her in that context. Be overwhelmingly positive in what your saying–even when you must mention your opponent. I’m not being snarky here.
I know this is snark, and I’m hoping my agnostic beliefs are correct, so here goes:
We should find out if the driver (thoughts if not prayers) is a Trumper or a Repub, and if so demand the President call a rally with families of other people who have been killed by Trumpers and Repubs at which he will demand that Trumpers and Repubs have their drivers licenses revoked.

Devil’s advocate weighing in to ask if it could still be seen as an unfair advantage and create even more sympathy for her. You’re out there banging the drum for yourself, and she’s lying in a hospital bed. I’m sure they’ve talked about this. I’d at least wait until you see how it looks for her continuing in the race. Put your effort into non-public things in the meantime.
