Iā€™m just glad weā€™re not the only country with a ton of dumb asses voting for really stupid shit.

Itā€™s ironic that Britainā€™s complaint with the EU is immigration when for decades Britain has been accepting non-whites from its former colonies. To take pressure off complaints by white Brits relating to colonial non-whites, the government is complaining about the EU demand that it accept refugees from Syria and Iraq whose populations are a mix of Muslim and Christian and are very close to white.

Can you imagine the Tunnel trains if the Channel becomes an international boundary? And more significantly, what happens when every single truck or cargo container from Europe has to be physically inspected for customs and trafficking reasons?

They still donā€™t want to accept that as much as the EU might want to minimize fallout for its members, the EU has an incentive to make this as painful as possible for the UK to discourage other countries from trying the same stunt.

Or they could say ā€œOopsie! Didnā€™t mean it!!ā€ and Brexit wouldnā€™t be such a big problem anymore.

Democracy doesnā€™t always work for the benefit of all, especially when outside forces mislead the masses.

Duh! What the fuck did they THINK was going to happen?!?!?

I tend to agree with the first post in this comment thread.

I still agree with the first comment, but I agree with this sentiment as well. This seems to be a problem in a number of places, not just America.

This is a problem of the UKā€™s own making, and is the result of listening to morons like Farage.

Good luck fixing the stupid.

What Great Britain really needs is their own Mueller-like Scotland Yard investigation on the links between Putin & Russia and the proponents of Brexit - with a re-vote on Brexit if a link is found.

As for the hard Brexit, I think thatā€™s very likely. As the article says:

EU officials say Britain has failed to make realistic proposals about future ties. They accuse the U.K. of seeking to retain the benefits of EU membership ā€” such as free trade ā€” without accepting the blocā€™s rules, including the free movement of people among member states.

The UKā€™s soft-Brexit proposal that would let them keep everything they liked about the EU while getting rid of everything they didnā€™t like went over like a lead balloon with the EU leadership. And with the hard-Brexit proponents in Prime Minister Mayā€™s cabinet doing everything they can to oppose a soft exit, a hard-Brexit is becoming more and more likely.

On the BBC website, in the last few weeks thereā€™s been a number of articles about the military being ready to handle food distribution, the building of stockpiles for critical items, etc. in preparation for a hard Brexit. I hope this turns out like Y2K for the general population but the United Kingdom is preparing for the worst.

ā€¦stressing the economic harm to all sides that would come from a ā€œno-dealā€ Brexitā€¦

Iā€™d be a lot more concerned about the harm that will come to the United Kingdom. They are on the wrong side of this argument.

Guilty AF.

Another display of incompetent pseudo-conservative policy tainted by Russian Influence. Smells familiar.

They canā€™t undo the damage thatā€™s already been done. London, once the financial capital of the world, is now just another big city.

Yes and not just an incentive. Thereā€™s no other option for the EU and never was. Soon as EU starts letting countries negotiate terms of departure, the whole deal falls apart. Which will probably happen anyways but theyā€™re certainly not going to self-destruct to please Britain.

ā€œPlease donā€™t talk about me when Iā€™m gone
Oh honey, though our friendship ceases from now on
And listen, if you canā€™t say anything real nice
Itā€™s better not to talk at all is my advice
Weā€™re parting, you go your way Iā€™ll go mine
Itā€™s best that we doā€

This will be a messy divorce and everyone will regret the next few years.

"Fox accused EU officials of putting a ā€œtheological obsessionā€ with sticking to the rules ahead of ā€œthe economic wellbeing of the people of Europe.ā€ā€™

Thatā€™s ridiculous. Boris Johnson and Nigel Farage spread lies in the service of ambition or theological obsession, and didnā€™t give a ratā€™s patoot about economic wellbeing in the UK or Europe.

What I donā€™t understand about this Brexit nonsense is that they behave as if itā€™s the only option. Iā€™m driving my car towards a cliff. Should I: 1. Keep driving. 2. Hit the brake.

Sorta sad to see a country commit suicideā€¦

Imagine what itā€™s like to be QEII, raised in an Empire, inherited a commonwealth and is now a 3rd rate powerā€¦

Without the benefit of EU bureaucratic oversight over standards, British agricultural products will face unprecedented barriers. Those rural voters who welcomed this will reap what they sowed.

Seems like it might be time for the citizens of the UK to reconsider their decision to approve Brexit. I think they are beginning to realize that it is leading to more harm than good.
