Discussion: UK Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson Resigns Amid Brexit Disputes

Finally some good news.

May has been on borrowed time ever since she cut a deal with the Unionists. The government will fall and elections will have Corbyn with a minority government.

(from the story on Raab) Davis said he could not support May’s plan to maintain close trade and regulatory ties with the EU — a proposal agreed by the Cabinet after a marathon meeting Friday. Steve Baker, a junior Brexit minister also resigned.

Does this mean that the pro Brexit ministers want no trade whatsoever with the EU and if so, who the (expletive deleted) are they going to have trade with??? No one?

ETA: And Corbyn has no problems with leaving the EU.

Is there any way this means Trump will be arrested when he arrives in England? It doesn’t seem that way, I admit, but I’m a little vague on British politics and like to keep a hopeful attitude.

[/quote]I don’t see why not.

Look for Trump to instigate some sort of noxious nonsense, kicking May while she’s down smack dab in the middle of the NATO summit.

I really enjoy the headline image in the framework of Donald Trump as seen through a funhouse mirror. The hilariously terrible hair, the tie down to mid-thigh, the petulant toddler posture… the only problem is that Boris has a binder full of papers not one of which has his big, beautiful signature on it.

Shorter Boris: Upon Brexit, the EU was obligated to give us all of the benefits and none of the burdens of belonging. How come May is such a weak negotiator?

If Davis’s resignation rattled May, Johnson’s shook the foundations of her government.

Stunning, said nobody.

Weird, it’s almost like Brexit is an intrinsically destabilizing tornado that sucks away dignity and sturdiness from anything it touches.

Who knew disassembling a half-century of ironclad-firm diplomacy and economic ties could be so complicated?

The only questions are: Who made money out of this flim-flam? And how soon will it work again?

Everything else about it is too ridiculous to contemplate.

One can always hope.

That would be a wonderful dream come true…

Russia, hence why they helped get it passed.

But leading pro-Brexit legislator Jacob Rees-Mogg said “I don’t think a no-confidence vote is immediately in the offing.” He urged May to abandon her plans and take a tougher line with Brussels.

“Friday’s announcement was turning red lines into a white flag, and David Davis has made that so clear in his resignation letter,” Rees-Mogg said.

It’s going to be interesting to see if Davidson (she’s for remain) decides to run.

For all the hand-wringing about how inept is the leadership and direction of the Democratic Party is, some of it somewhat deserved, my god, Labour. You really can’t find anybody better than Jeremy Corbyn?

maybe

don’t know who though

I demand that “Woody” Johnson lock the embassy doors, or give Trump the old embassy’s address. I do not want an Assange arrangement for Trump.
