It is reported (by Juan Cole at Informed Comment) that the reason that Individual #1 and Prime Minister Abd al-Mahdi did not meet is that Individual demanded that Abd a-Mahdi come to the U.S. base to meet with him. Was this (a) a demonstration of U.S. imperial might (b) tone-deaf or © just another demonstration of Individual’s rank ignorance of almost everything in the world?

Trump also claims that troops in Iraq could cross into Syria if needed there. I am sure Iraqi authorities were pleased to hear that.

b) 7 year old and marginal Santa belief reminds us of his profoundly deep tone-deafness & his calling the mission his troops are/were serving (that are being pulled out) essentially the work on behalf of “suckers” (referring to the US) in the world’s eyes
c) Too many examples to limit to one or two. Though the content, tenor, and reaction (to the response) of his speech to the UN General Assembly this past fall comes to mind.
Probably fearing he might get wacked if not on the air base.
