European intelligence had cell phone intercepts of Russians saying Cohen was in Prague, and there are cell-ping-signatures of Cohen’s phone on Prague area cell towers.

Could be true, but probably not intercepts, just routine logging. A lot of cell-phone data has been logged after 9/11 and a cellphone ‘camping’ on a foreign network would be logged.

Yeah I don’t know how to read that and I should study the original story more to be sure. From the RawStory synopsis…they mention two things at play. #1: Russians saying that Cohen was in Prague (intercept? translated?) and #2: the pings of Cohen’s phone on Prague area towers. (Logged?)

There are probably pretty complete records of “who called who from where” going 17 years back. Not necessarily intercepts, just the basic infomation about the call, a few hundred bytes, to build up a picture about who knows who.
NSA is doing it in the US and I know local telecoms in DK were ordered to do the same.

Cohen’s phone is not the same as Cohen, btw, but he seems not like the type, who loans out his phone…
