Discussion: Trump's Senate Allies Talk Up Border Deal To Avoid Shutdown

Sen. Joni Ernst (R-IA), who was on Trump’s shortlist for vice president, praised the deal as well, saying Republicans were “well on our way” to achieving Trump’s goals with the agreement.

You dodged a bullet there, Senator. I hope you have the proper attitude of gratitude.

“Deal or No Deal?” Didn’t they cancel that crappy show years ago?

Can’t wait, someday, to not think about the federal government for days or weeks at a time. It will just be there, federal governmenting along, like I expect it to.

She just wasn’t grababble enough. He confused her with “Susie Orman.”

if the goops can’t do anything else ……

they can sure pay attention to what it takes to cut their losses —

[not that they’re always successful …. just that they pay attention] –

No one cares what the Senate allies think.

The only people that matter to Trump on this subject are Coulter (against), Hannity (against), Rush (not sure), and F&F (for).

No one else matters.

No, it’s on nightly on CNBC, believe it or not.

They act like they are walking on eggshells. I almost hope he vetoes it, just to piss on them to see what they do.

He said that if everything that GOP negotiators told him was in the bill — $1.375 billion for new physical barriers on the border and no hard cap on the number of detention beds for the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency — he “would likely be a yes” vote on the deal.

Yeah, what's not to like about more brown people in jail, especially if many are children?

“I can’t say I’m happy. I can’t say I’m thrilled,” Trump said.

There’s a problem with that?

Functionally, there’s no deal. He’ll sign it and go for national emergency money as well. No way is he going to let his monument to himself be limited to 55 miles long, especially when the Dems basically just handed him starter money and the ability to send KAC out to Faux & Friends to claim his victory over the Dem-controlled House.

I can’t wait for the graffiti.
The wall penetrations will be novel too.

So what is this deal? Does it fund the government for 2 weeks again or a year?

Who thinks McConnell demanded and got some pretty serious assurances directly from Trump on this?

Sen. David Perdue (R-GA), a close Trump ally and border hawk who has worked with the White House on legislation that would dramatically reshape immigration law, also sounded hopeful about the proposed agreement.

Legislation which will never pass until the Republicans again control both the Senate and House. And David Perdue is rotting in his grave. And Hell.

Trump’s “monument” is small and shaped like a mushroom, if eye-witness reports are to be believed.

The money in the agreement is for repair of existing fencing/barriers.
No new construction is being authorized.

I like the headline, but the lead could just as well have been:

“dumbass, please listen to us senators who need to get reelected in 2020, not to your nazi reject Stephen Miller, the toothpick harpy, and the FOX news wingers”

P.s. I really hope Trump goes with the crazy, as it would force the Republicans to either (a) shut down the government, or (b) vote for this thing - which would get 60 votes in the senate - and force Trump to veto it, or own it.
