It would be the totally Trumpy thing to do for him to be intimidated by Beto’s crowd size, Kamala’s jabs at him on taxes, immigration and crowd size, Manafort/Stone, and Ann Coulter and renege on this deal. The onus would then be on Mitch to override by supermajority but I doubt the House would have enough votes to override which would plunge us into another shutdown.

Trump is claiming that the El Paso Fire Dept. gave him special permission to cram thousand of people over the capacity of the hall and that his audience was 35,000 to Beto’s 200 or 300.
Of course, Trump was given no such special permission, and he had 6500 people in the venue and a couple thousand outside watching the big-screens.
Beto had between 7500 and 10,000 at his counter-rally.
Trump is such a pathetic loser.

Here’s another option for Trump: renege on the deal and insist that Congress pass a continuing resolution for the remainder of this fiscal year and do the same for the next fiscal year and essentially punt the matter to 2020. He could take a defiant position that he will not settle, but that Democrats are stopping him from getting what he wants, Republicans are too weak, and therefore he needs to take his case to the people. That avoids a shutdown, avoids a humiliating defeat in the courts on a national emergency measure, and he can continue to sound combative.

Does anyone out there in TPM Land know: 1. The number of privately owned parcels of property along the Mexican border that would be subject to being appropriated via eminent domain? 2. The total values of those properties which require owners being reimbursed because of their being taken? 3. Where the money for those reimbursements would come from (included in the proposed legislation)? 4. If property owners contest the taking of their property and take the matter to court, how long does the average lawsuit take to final decision?

If they really wanted to cut down on foot and vehicle traffic in non-walled areas, they’d just lay a nice mine field along the way… Wouldn’t cut into the view.
Presume some liberals would whine about the images of illegal immigrants blown to pieces by anti-personnel mines, though.
